Natives usually celebrate the new year in spring at the time of the First Thunders. However, in Lincoln this year, Indian Center, Inc. is merging worlds to ring in 2017. They’ll share healing ways, ceremonies and games to bless the coming year.
This is a great family-friendly event for all ages, and you’ll all take home unforgettable experiences and new cultural knowledge!

Lincoln Children’s Museum
This family-friendly event is a classic New Year’s Eve party — complete with party favors, dancing, bubblewrap stomping and a countdown to the new year. Celebrate early in the evening with a 2,017 balloon drop from two floors above!
Be sure to buy tickets in advance. All proceeds go to the Museum’s Have a Heart program which provides income-qualified families an annual membership to the Lincoln Children’s Museum at a reduced cost.

Lincoln Berean Church
Let the kids have their own New Year’s Eve party with Camp Sonshine counselors at Lincoln Berean Church. The event is open to all Kindergarteners through 6th graders as well as any past Leaders In Training with the Sonshine program.
This overnight event gives kids a place to experience personal growth, make new friends and overcome challenges. Complete with games and activities, they’ll have an unforgettable night and you can rest assured their New Year’s festivities will be safe!

Partnering with local bands Soul Dawg and Wheezetones, Rococo Theater is throwing a festive event you don’t want to miss! Everyone over the age of 18 is invited to dance the night away to classic rock and soulful sounds. Tickets include party favors and a midnight champagne toast for those over 21 years of age.

Critters is a local favorite in Lincoln. On New Year’s Eve, join them for a musical event complete with a piano bar, dancing and local musicians Johnny Moss, Randy Baker and Pat Glenn, who was inducted into the Nebraska Hall of Fame in 1999. He adapted his jazz and big-band style of piano playing during the mid-50s when rock and roll was king and he’s still putting on can’t-miss shows. Sing and dance with him and his friends this New Year’s Eve!
