Yelp is a community of food-lovers, locals and business reviewers alike. Over the years, as the community has grown, the website has become a go-to destination to find the best of the best.
Based on an algorithm that considers the number of reviews and star ratings, they’re able to rank most dining destinations around the country. And in Lincoln, you’ll find reviews from locals, transplants and visitors — all with something to say about their dinners.
We organized a list of the most consistently top-ranked restaurants in the city for your next night out. You’ll find everything from casual sandwich shops to upscale steakhouses and everything in between. There’s even a ramen bar and a place to find traditional Mediterranean Shawarma! The next time you need a place to celebrate or just need to step out of the kitchen, consult our list of Lincoln’s best and hear from Yelp reviewers who have been there!
At Sultan’s Kite, they say, “You may not know how to say it, but we sure know how to cook it.” This Mediterranean spot is consistently ranked as the best in Lincoln — and it’s open until 2:30 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays! Stop by if you’re looking for a gluten-free meal, a late-night bite, or just a really great lunch.
The most recommended dish on Yelp is the Chicken Shawarma. One Yelp reviewer said, “I tried the Chicken Shawarma on salad and left feeling full, satisfied and guilt-free since I skipped out on the rice and pita. To indulge, I got a side order of the falafel and they were crunchy and delicious.”

Single Barrel is a chophouse by day and whiskey bar by night. Oh, and it’s one of the most exciting concert venues in the city. Mix this all together and throw in a menu of made from scratch food, and you have one of the best places to eat any time of day.
Whether you choose a Nebraska steak or some classic Midwest barbecue, don’t skip the Brisket Baked BBQ Beans! Yelp reviewer, Richard M. said, “Do not go here and miss the beans. Shame on you.”

Honest Abe’s is a local favorite — so much so that it shows up on most Lincoln Yelp lists twice! Whether you call it Honest Abe’s Burgers and Freedom or simple Honest Abe’s, you’re in for one of the best burgers you’ve ever tasted. Opt for The Greatest Burger Ever, a 6-ounce patty with applewood bacon, grilled onions, romaine, American cheese, ketchup and their signature awesome sauce. Or, try a weekly special from the constantly revolving menu.
One visitor from Omaha wrote, “[The Greatest Burger Ever] was certainly one of the most awesome burgers I’ve had recently. And more than worth driving back to Lincoln for.”
LeadBelly is known for its burgers, but the most recommended dish on Yelp is the Grown Up Mac and Cheese. Order the classic LB with queso, aged white cheddar and candied bacon, or go for the more unique Loco Mac with a fried egg, queso flameado, green chili, cilantro and sriracha drizzle! All six options are delicious, but so is everything else on their huge menu — including one of the largest gluten-free menus in town.

If you’ve never had Banh Bo, a Vietnamese Green Waffle made with coconut, get to Banhwich Cafe ASAP. They make the best, most authentic dish in town. But, since Banh Bo is a dessert, you might need to start with a traditional Banh Mi sandwich. They have 17 delicious flavor options, so you’re sure to find something to love.
Beware if you’re coming from Omaha. According to Yelp reviewers, you’ll be begging for a second Banhwich Cafe location in your city.
Vegans, carnivores, ramen connoisseurs — they all rave about AmuManu Ramen Bar. This trendy downtown spot serves everything from pork stir fry and delectable dumplings to fried calamari and nine different flavors of ramen bowls! Check the menu and get ready for what a few Yelp reviewers have called, “the best ramen you can get in Lincoln.”
If you’re looking for one of the most delicious BBQ dinners, head to Phat Jack’s before they close at 7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 p.m. on weekends. Be sure to get there early to try the signature Burnt Ends. This dish sells out regularly because it’s the most recommended item on the menu — and the tastiest!
One Yelp reviewer from Bellevue wrote, “Of course we chose the burnt ends because, based on the reviews, it seems it would be a crime not to. They were phenomenal!”
“This is a dude heaven. Burgers, gravy, beards, beer, carb overload with a cup of cheese sauce.” This particular Yelp reviewer hit the nail on the head describing this cozy, hole in the wall. But alongside huge, mouth-watering burgers and Angus steaks, you’ll find Roasted Half Duck, Southern-Style Catfish, a Grilled Portobello Sandwich, Nebraska Fondue, and a full menu of other upscale bar bites and welcome surprises.
Stop by the Lincoln location for the original experience inside the small, hidden gem!

“Romantic and casual”, “the perfect date spot”, and “the best celebratory destination” have all been used to describe Green Gateau. Their huge menu includes brunch, lunch and dinner with extensive gluten-free options, an envious wine list, local brews and artisan cocktails. Try a half pound of farm raised frog legs marinated in buttermilk and fried in spices. Or, opt for the simple Tuna and Risotto — a 4-ounce seared Yellowfin tuna steak served over zucchini and summer squash risotto.
They have a little something for every appetite which is probably why it’s a favorite upscale destination for every local. “We used to live in Lincoln, but have recently moved to Omaha. However, I still make my husband take me there for my birthday dinner,” wrote one Yelp reviewer.
