Omaha’s picturesque, gently rolling terrain makes it a perfect destination for golfers from around the state to come and play a round of 18. We have a number of lush, championship courses in the area, each offering new challenges and fun quirks of their own. We think they are all amazing in their own right, but we’ve rounded up a few that stand apart from the rest — one might say they’re better than par.

Without further ado, here are our 10 favorite courses for a round of nine holes (or 18) in the Omaha area. Whether you’re a visitor looking to brush up on their game, or a local looking to discover something new, we’re sure you’ll be scheduling a tee time in no time!

Stone Creek answered a demand for high-quality yet affordable golf when construction on the course was finished in 2000. The course offers 27 challenging golf holes on a perfectly-maintained course, and one of the most popular driving ranges in the state. The motto here is to “play easy”. Come play a round of 18 with friends on a leisurely afternoon to escape the daily grind and soak in the Omaha sunshine.

The Players Club

Designed by golfing legend, Arnold Palmer, the golf course at the Players Club is one of the most prestigious private golfing facilities in the area. The 27-hole, championship course was recognized in 2006-2010 as one of the best golf courses in Nebraska by Golf Digest, and offers 350 acres of challenging obstacles and picturesque scenery.  Membership here will also allow you access to the olympic-sized swimming pool, a luxurious clubhouse and more!

The three distinct, nine-hole routes at Indian Creek will thrill golfers with its abundant water obstacles, well-placed bunkers and lush fairways. Choose to play a round of nine at Black Bird, Red Feather or Gray Hawk, or take a day to complete the trifecta! Just make sure you cool off with a refreshment in the clubhouse afterward — you earned it.

Pacific Springs

Located just south of the Village Pointe Mall, you’ll find Pacific Springs — 18 holes of golfer’s paradise. The championship course offers a challenging yet approachable round of golf for players of all skill levels, and features lakes, creeks, wetlands, and plenty of beautiful trees to shade you from the elements. If you’re looking for a venue for a family outing, the bent grass putting course is the perfect spot for a fun-filled afternoon (and is also good for putting practice!).

This golf course is aptly named, as it borders the shores of Carter Lake. This makes for a scenic round of golf (and a few extra water obstacles). The course is just a five minute drive from downtown, so there’s no excuse not to stop by for a round with co-workers at the end of the day! The four sets of tees at each hole challenge experienced and beginners alike.

The Tiburon Golf Club

Tiburon Golf Club features 27 challenging holes situated on 12 acres of naturally rolling hills, with stunning views of the nearby lakes. The course offers opportunities for scheduled golf outings with groups as small as 40 or as large as 240, but you can book a tee time for yourself and a few friends anytime. After playing, enjoy a meal at the full service restaurant!

200 acres of impeccable bent-grass fairways await you at Champions Run, along with a panoramic view. The private course was designed by golf course architect Jeffrey Brauer, who created the course to challenge players of all skill levels. Here, you’ll find 18 holes, grassy knolls, testing obstacles and more — all maintained to tournament quality. The country club offers picturesque views of the course, perfect for toasting to a successful round.

The Field Club of Omaha is the oldest private country club west of the Mississippi, with the charm and prestige to prove it. Known as “the Jewel of Midtown,” the golf course is impeccable, and has been played by greats including Bobby Jones and Johnny Goodman. The design of the course dates back to 1905, and was the site of the 1941 U.S. Amateur Championship. It’s a little taste of history just minutes from downtown Omaha!

Eagle Hills and Tara Hills

Choose between two 18-hole, championship courses for your next round. The facility, shortly known as “The Hills,” draws in crowds from near and far to experience the rolling fairways, bent-grass greens, and beautifully structured bunkers. Each course is a favorite among local golfers, but offers a new challenge every time you set foot on the green!

The Omaha Country Club

The private course was ranked #1 in Omaha by Golf Digest, and hosted the 2013 U.S. Senior Open. And with more than 300 acres, we’re sure you’ll find a new challenge on every fairway.
