There’s no doubt about it — your dog is truly a member of your family. Nothing is better than a joyful reunion with Spot after a long day at work, followed by a snuggle on the couch (if he’s allowed up there, of course). We find ourselves spending most of our free time and money on our pups, so we like to know that we’re spending it in all the right places.
Lincoln apparently loves pups as much as we do, due to the high volume of local pet stores and groomers. We’ve rounded up the best shops, parks and dog-friendly eateries in Lincoln, so that the next time you’re looking to treat your pet, you can be sure he’s well taken care of.

Big brand shops might have what you need, but if you prefer to shop local, below are a few of our favorites. Next time your furry friend needs a restock on food and treats, be sure to stop by one of these locations.
Healthy eating is at the forefront of our minds lately. We try to treat our bodies right, but what about our dogs? Nature’s Logic ditches the synthetic supplements and uses real ingredients to give your pup the nutrition he or she craves. Stop by the cozy shop in Lincoln to try it out!
Whether you’re looking for treats, toys, kibble or accessories, store-owner Jill and the staff of SitStay will always help you to find what you need. Bring your pup along so he or she can get in on the shopping experience!
The Canine Consultants and Pet Supply
The Canine Consultants & Pet Supply specializes in dog training as well as high quality pet foods and supplies. The shop has been around for nearly 30 years, and in that time has gained a reputation as one of the best resources for pet owners in the state. This is primarily due to the dedication of owner and head trainer Trevor Bassen, who has taught more than 50,000 lessons in his career. Stop by to hear more about the training programs, and stock up on treats, kibble and toys while you’re at it!
Dog-Friendly Restaurants, Cafes and Bars
Sometimes it is nice to get out of the house and go for a bite elsewhere, but it’s always a bit challenging when you have to sidestep the famed puppy eyes. The following local watering holes and eateries are pet-friendly, so pull out the leash, because Fido is joining you this time. Bone Appetit!
Blue Blood Brewing
If you couldn’t tell from the name, Blue Blood Brewing is proudly run by three friends who used to work as policemen in the Lincoln Police Department. They’ve channeled their love for the Lincoln community and craft beer into the creation of this local watering hole, which has already become a staple since opening its doors in 2011. Canine companions of all shapes and sizes are welcome, and can play in the dog run or hang with you on the deck or in the yard.
Enjoy your morning cup o’joe at this small-batch craft coffee roaster. The Mill has been serving Lincoln since 1975, and never fails to please with its soul-warming, caffeinated creations and cozy atmosphere. Your dog is welcome to come along for the ride (as long as you enjoy your coffee on the patio!).
Lazlo’s Brewery and Grill
At the heart of Lazlo’s Brewery and Grill is incredible service, a friendly Nebraska atmosphere and a hickory grill where the chef cooks up hearty burgers, steaks and seafood entrées. Anything you choose will be served up with a smile and a house-brewed beer (if you so choose). Your pup can’t come inside with you, but if you choose to sit on the patio, he can join in the fun — you might even be able to slip him a few treats under the table.
Leashed walks around the neighborhood are no-doubt one of your dog’s favorite activities, but walks without a leash? Even better. Let your four-legged friend run free (and meet new friends) at a dog park! Lincoln has two dog parks, Rickman’s Run and Oak Creek Dog Park. Both have large open areas to chase tennis balls, bark at trees, and do their thing. They even feature small dog areas, where miniature fluffsters can interact without the fear of being trampled. But there are a few features that distinguish them, which we’ve listed below.
Rickman’s Run (also known as Holmes Lake Dog Park) is located at 70th and Van Dorn Streets adjacent to the Holmes Lake Recreation area. Here, you’ll find 26 acres of fenced-in play area, a walking trail, and gorgeous scenery. All of this is punctuated by Antelope Creek, which meanders through the park and allows a space for your pup to splash around.
Oak Creek Dog Park
Conveniently located in Northwest Lincoln at North 1st Street and the Cornhusker Highway, the Oak Creek Dog Park boasts 20 acres of fenced in play area. It might be a touch smaller than Rickman’s Run, but we guarantee that your pup won’t even notice the difference with all the fun they’ll be having.
Dog Boarding, Walking and Daycare
You try to be there as much as you can for your best friend, but sometimes vacations or long hours can pull us away. Luckily, there is a fleet of professionals around town ready to give your pet the care he or she needs — be it walking, daycare or even longer term boarding. Here are our favorites.
Bailey’s Deluxe Pet Care
At Bailey’s Deluxe Pet Care, your pet’s health, happiness and safety is the staff’s number one priority. You can choose from a gauntlet of services, including grooming, walking, in-home pet sitting, daycare and boarding — and based on the glowing testimonials, we’re sure you and your pet will be happy with the result.
Camp Bow Wow
Camp Bow Wow truly makes your best fur-iend feel like a child going away to summer camp. They’ll get to play and romp with other pups and enjoy the spacious indoor and outdoor play yards! Be careful though — they might have so much fun that they won’t want to come back home.
Driftwood Boarding and Wellness
This smaller, family-owned kennel comes with all the charm you might expect from such a venue. Your four-legged friend will enjoy personalized care, including basic veterinary services, grooming, boarding and daycare, all steeped in the philosophy that “all dogs should be treated like the individual that they are — not just one of many!”

Your pooch wants to look their best! And if they had thumbs, we’re sure they’d be primping and preening every morning just like you do. Okay, that might be a stretch, but at least we can agree that it’s always nice to cuddle your pup after a bath and a fresh trim! These local groomers make their canine clientele glow.
Astro Dog Grooming
Shane, owner and head groomer of Astro Dog Grooming, grew up right here in Nebraska. After dabbling in a few careers, he realized his love for dogs was too great to ignore, and graduated from the Missouri School of Dog Grooming in 2008. Services range from brush outs to ear trims, and all pups come out looking fabulous.
The Groom Room
The Groom Room is staffed by a number of professionals, all with many years of grooming experience under their belts. Even so, each staff member takes at least one major grooming seminar per year to brush up on their skills. There’s no doubt about it, your fluff ball will be in good hands at the Groom Room.
The Canine Scrub
If you prefer more of a DIY grooming experience, but want to save the mess surrounding your bathtub at home, The Canine Scrub is the place for you! This spot is filled with raised, easy access tubs, shampoos, conditioners, brushes and high speed dryers — everything you need to make Fido look his best! After the bath, you can peruse through the colorful bows and bandanas to accessorize.
