19 Holiday Events in Lincoln to Mark On Your Calendar This Season

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! You’ve likely already witnessed the holiday lights and displays popping up around Lincoln, and that’s only the beginning. Over the next few weeks, our city will host a festive lineup of events to celebrate the season, from craft fairs to concerts. We’ve gathered up the ones that are most likely to get you in the holiday spirit, so get ready to mark those calendars!

The 4th Annual Holiday Market Craft & Vendor Fair

When: November 19, noon-4 pm
Where: Lincoln Firefighters Reception Hall

Get a jump on your holiday shopping and beat the Black Friday rush by supporting local vendors at this festive craft fair! Admission is completely free, and once inside, you’ll have the opportunity to shop unique, quality gifts and decorations from the area’s best artisans. There will also be a raffle, free coffee and hot apple cider (or something a little stronger if you prefer). All proceeds will benefit the family of fallen firefighter, Matt Vonderfect.

 

A Holiday Open House at James Arthur Vineyards

When: November 25, noon-6 pm
Where: James Arthur Vineyards

When the weather outside is frightful, a winery is the jolliest place to be! Join the team at James Arthur Vineyards for Christmas cookies, live music, hot spice mulled wine and gift shop specials at this festive open house.

 

The Santa Celebration

When: November 25, 6-8 pm
Where: SouthPointe Pavilions

When Thanksgiving dinner is over, it will be time to flip the switch on the Christmas tree! Join Santa and a cast of holiday characters as they illuminate the tree at SouthPointe Pavilions, one of the biggest trees in the region. There will also be music, family-friendly activities, live performers, refreshments and giveaways throughout the center.

 

Holiday Market Hosted by The Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel

When: December 1, 4-8 pm
Where: The Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel

Come one, come all as the Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel illuminates the lobby’s grand Cornhusker tree. Holiday magic will be in the air with cookies, cocoa, hot apple cider and plenty of incredible vendors! You’ll be able to get a jump start on those stocking stuffers, catch up with loved ones, and even give your best to Santa Claus himself. The official tree lighting ceremony will take place at 3:30 pm with Mayor Chris Beutler.

 

The Lincoln Children’s Museum Holiday Spectacular

When: December 1, 5-7 pm
Where: The Lincoln Children’s Museum

Join the Lincoln Children’s Museum to kick off the most wonderful time of the year in style! The Holiday Spectacular will feature performances of all kinds, an indoor snowball fight, Santa’s workshop, photos with Santa, and so much more. Admission is free for members (ticket still required) and is only $5 for non members.

 

The Lancaster Event Center Holiday Spectacular

When: December 2, 9 am-4 pm
Where: The Lancaster Event Center

Gifts are always better when they come from the heart! Get a jump on your shopping at the Holiday Spectacular, which will feature nearly 100 artisans from Nebraska and our neighboring states displaying unique, handmade items — all perfect for stuffing stockings or hiding under the tree. Impress someone special while supporting local!

 

A DIY Holiday Greenery Workshop

When: December 2, 9-11 am
Where: The Pioneers Park Nature Center

Learn how to create your own unique centerpiece, wreath or holiday decoration of your choice at this merry workshop! Greenery, ribbon, accessories, wire and other supplies will be provided, as well as one gift mug or small basket to take home with you. Your home will be ready for the holidays in no time!

 

Candy House Funshop

When: December 2-3, Times Vary
Where: The Lincoln Children’s Museum

Enjoy all the fun of making a gingerbread house for the holidays without the gooey mess that comes with it! Adults and children alike are welcome to create their own candy cottage with a huge assortment of candy, cereal, frosting and more.

 

A Holiday Open House at the Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center

When: December 3, 1-4 pm
Where: The Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center

Celebrate this festive season on the prairie with fun activities for the whole family, holiday decorating ideas, live music, snacks, cider and more! Admission is completely free.

 

Deck The Halls, From Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra

When: December 3, 2 pm and 6 pm
Where: The Lied Center for Performing Arts

Kick off the holiday season with Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra as they present their annual pops concert. You and the whole family will enjoy a medley of seasonal favorites, including “Sleigh Ride,” “O Holy Night,” and selections from the Nutcracker. The concert will also include an appearance by Lincoln’s premiere handbell choir, Bellissimo, as well as performances from Chase Dance and four-time National Championship clogging group, Tap This!

 

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical

When: December 5, 7-10 pm
Where: The Lied Center for Performing Arts

Do you recall the most famous reindeer of all? Rudolph will come to life on stage this holiday season, joined by the abominable snow monster, Yukon Cornelius, and Mr. and Mrs. Claus! Bring the whole family for an evening you won’t forget!

 

A Straight No Chaser Christmas

When: December 7, 7:30-10 pm
Where: The Lied Center for Performing Arts

The captivating sound of ten voices will come together for a truly spectacular holiday concert. Straight No Chaser is one of the nation’s most renowned acapella groups, and the group is venturing to Lincoln to present their own twist on holiday classics — including their famed version of “The 12 Days of Christmas,” which has been viewed more than 20 million times on YouTube since its original release.

 

Lincoln Late Night Live: Holiday Edition

When: December 7-9, 7:30 pm
Where: The TADA Theatre

Be a member of the live audience for this special holiday event! Showings for the holiday edition of Lincoln Late Night Live will take place Thursday through Saturday, and each episode is different. Expect a mix of music, comedy, special guests and thrilling surprises hosted by Lincoln’s own Bob Rook and Juli Burney.

 

A Christmas Cabaret with Judy Anderson & Friends

When: December 8-10, 7-9 pm
Where: James Arthur Vineyards

Stop by James Arthur Vineyards this holiday season for a fun-filled evening of Christmas songs and Broadway hits. Ticket price includes admission and a glass of wine from the winery!

 

The Jingle Jog

When: December 9, 9 am
Where: Mahoney Park

Bring the whole family to race in the jolliest race of the year! This laid-back run is a great way to get some fresh air, and will include a delicious breakfast and photo booth to add to the fun. All proceeds will benefit the West Lincoln & Huntington Elementary Holiday Headquarters Program, which helps families in need buy food and presents.

 

The Holiday Bazaar at Cornhusker Council, BSA

When: December 9, 9 am-1 pm
Where: Cornhusker Council, BSA

This family-friendly event will allow kids the chance to meet Santa in person, make a fun holiday craft and decorate a cookie. Afterward, shop around the local craft fair for some stocking stuffers!

 

Love, The Locals: Holiday Show

When: December 10, noon-6 pm
Where: The Bay

This free community event will feature the best in local, handmade gifts! Shop a selection from more than 50 vendors while sipping on beer from Zipline Brewing Co., snacking on bites from local food trucks, and dancing along to live performers.

 

The Holiday Cabaret

When: December 13-17, Times Vary
Where: The Studio Theatre in the Temple Building

This uplifting, toe-tapping concert will feature your favorite holiday tunes performed by emerging artists, big names, and Chicago’s premiere, sweet-singing female trio, The Lakeshore Dolls. There’s no better way to get your daily dose of good cheer and revelry!

 

The Christmas Bird Count 4 Kids

When: December 28, 10 am-noon
Where: The South Prairie Audubon Center

Join the South Prairie Audubon Center for this nature-oriented event designed for kids and their families! Grab binoculars and stomp through the snow to help staff count the birds, and enjoy a hot chocolate picnic at the end.
