The Ultimate Guide to Omaha Fashion Week 2018 | Events, Local Designers + More

February 15, 2018Add a CommentPosted By

Omaha is known for many things — top-notch steaks, friendly people, beautiful homes, and innovative fashion! Omaha Fashion Week will return on February 27th for its 11th year, bringing local, regional and national designers to showcase their latest looks on the runway. Over the years it has grown to become the fifth largest fashion event in the country, boasting a glamorous red carpet, live entertainment, shopping and more.

The week provides a platform for young, emerging fashion designers to showcase their work, as well as mentoring and education opportunities. In fact, Omaha Fashion Week supports more independent artists and designers than any other organization in the region!

Of course, it’s also a great opportunity for the community to gather and get inspired. Join in the fun at the Omaha Design Center from February 27 through March 4 this year. Here are some of the fashion week events we are most looking forward to, as well as a run-down of some Omaha designers that will showcase their beautiful masterpieces.

Korinne Zimmerman, the designer behind Zaftig Kitty, is based in Lincoln, Nebraska. She started sewing in high school, motivated by the fact that, as a tall and curvy woman, it was difficult to find stylish clothing in her size. She eventually studied fashion at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and realized she had truly found her calling. She took home the Emerging Designer Omaha Fashion Cup in August, and now focuses on designing vibrant and playful plus-size fashions. She will be the headlining designer for the ASPIRE Emerging Designer Showcase on Friday, March 2.

When the time came to take home ec, he was anxious to learn the art of sewing, and even stayed after school to take on extra projects. Now, he is busy sewing gorgeous pieces and developing his personal brand — wearable couture items for all body types featuring embellishments, beadwork and embroidery.
