The colorful store window decorations and monumental amount of Peeps in the candy aisle can only mean one thing — Easter is coming! We love this holiday because not only does it give us the chance to eat lots of chocolate, but we also get to spend some extra quality time with our friends and families.
There are so many upcoming celebratory events in the area, including Easter egg hunts, eggstravagant brunches and photo opportunities with the notorious bunny himself. Here are a few we are looking forward to in the Omaha and Council Bluffs area.
March 24, 10-11:30 am | Rambleridge Park | Omaha, NE
The Easter Egg hunt at Rambleridge Park truly is fun for the entire family. There will be free egg hunt areas for those ages 6-12 and kids under 5, and a separate play area for dogs! Plus, teens and adults have the chance to join in the fun with a Golden Egg Hunt area. The adult area requires a $5 entry fee to participate, but hunters will find prizes in their eggs up to $50. Good luck!
Outdoorsy families will love this egg hunt. Don your hiking shoes and head to Hummel Park, where you’ll be able to hike the trails and find Easter eggs along the way. Afterward, make a craft and dye eggs!
March 24, 10 am-noon | Reality Church | La Vista, NE
Everyone is invited to this epic morning at Reality Church. There will be games, balloon animals, face painting, pony rides, and multiple Easter egg hunts, plus real bunnies and a pancake breakfast. The event is free with a suggested donation to the Pancake Man for providing breakfast.

The annual Easter egg hunt at Roberts Park is an event that locals look forward to every year. In addition to looking for eggs, kids can get their faces painted in fun colors and patterns, explore fire trucks and police cruisers, and play in the park! Bring your friends, your neighbors and the whole family — it’s an incredible opportunity to welcome spring.
March 24, 11 am-2 pm | Brookside Church | Omaha, NE
What do you get when you mix a helicopter and an egg hunt? Very happy children! Bring the little ones to this Easter Egg drop, during which a helicopter will fly overhead and drop more than 40,000 candy-filled eggs. Bonus: one of the eggs contains a free helicopter ride for the lucky child that finds it!
Hop on over to the Saddlebrook Library for this family-friendly Easter event which will feature a holiday-themed story time, arts and crafts, a bounce house, and (of course) an eggstravagant egg hunt. Don’t forget to bring a basket!
March 24-April 1, Times vary | Bass Pro Shop | Council Bluffs, IA
Bring your Bass Pass down to Bass Pro Shops to snag a free photo with the Easter Bunny. The Bunny will be around the week leading up to Easter (from March 24 through April 1), Monday through Thursday from 6-8 pm, Friday from 2-8 pm, Saturday from 11 am to 6 pm, and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm.
Your child can also complete a free Easter craft during his or her visit on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and look for eggs in the free hunt on Saturday at 2 pm.
The Tiny Tots event is getting an Easter upgrade in honor of the holiday! Bring the little ones to listen to themed stories, make crafts, and get their wiggles out in the Gym and Bounce House! We hear the Easter bunny will be there for photos as well. The event is free for children ages 5 and under.
This event features all of the Easter fun without all the junk food that comes with it. There will be healthy gluten-free snacks, and toys and prizes (in lieu of candy) as a reward for Easter egg collecting! There will also be family-friendly activities and a special appearance from everyone’s favorite bunny. Grab tickets here.
The bunny himself will visit the Shadow Lake Towne Center for an exclusive story time with your little ones. On Friday, enjoy a live reading in AT&T at 10:30 am, followed by free photos from noon to 4 pm. Just make sure to bring your own camera! The same event will take place at OrangeLeaf on Saturday.
Your little animal lovers won’t want to miss the Spring Fling at Master’s Hand! There will be an egg hunt with more than 20,000 eggs, meet-and-greets with famous characters, pony rides, a petting zoo, and so much more.
It turns out that even several days before Easter, the Easter Bunny is hard at work hiding eggs for your little ones to find. Bring the kids to this fun nighttime hunt, where they will get the chance to hunt thousands of glow-in-the-dark eggs.
March 31, 11 am-1 pm | Gifford Farm | Bellevue, NE
Celebrate the beginning of the spring season at Gifford Farm! There will be fun farm games, exciting raffle prizes, a hayride, and a fun interactive presentation from Omaha legend Dr. Oxygen. Plus, don’t miss out on the chance to visit with some of the resident farm animals, and capture some photos of the entire family! Admission is just $5 per person ages 2 and up, and raffle tickets are just 50 cents each (or three for $1).
This charitable egg hunt in La Vista is sure to be a blast! Bring a canned food or cash donation for the Tri-City Food Pantry, and then let the kids run wild and collect as many eggs as they can in the softball fields. The event is divided into age groups for fairness, and there are options for those ages 1-10.
Don’t miss StoneBridge’s annual Eggstravaganza! The event features train rides, a magic show, temporary tattoos, a visit from the Easter Bunny and more! There will also be several egg hunts with more than 16,000 eggs, and each hunt is divided by age group to maximize the fun. While the little ones are out hunting, parents can enjoy a free coffee bar or lunch for purchase.
Omaha’s favorite gardens are the perfect setting for celebrating Easter with the family. At this event, you’ll enjoy photos with the Easter Bunny, candy-filled eggs, fun arts and crafts, and more! Visitors can grab coffee or breakfast at the cafe before starting on the fun activities.
April 1, 10 am & 2 pm | Lauritzen Gardens | Omaha, NE
The annual brunch at the Lauritzen Gardens has become a beloved tradition for many local families, and it’s not difficult to see why. For just $30 per person (less for children), you will get access to a spectacular buffet of roast beef, baked ham, scrambled eggs, sausage, fresh fruit and veggies, biscuits, brownies, warm peach cobbler, and so much more.
