Another year has come and gone and we can hardly believe how quickly it went! But before the clock strikes midnight and we kiss 2019 goodbye for good, we are determined to squeeze in one last celebration.

From spectacular fireworks and kid-friendly events to rock concerts and elegant soirées, there are a variety of New Year’s Eve events this year in Omaha—all guaranteed to help you start the new year off with a bang. Regardless of how you choose to celebrate, there is sure to be an event on this list to match your taste. Have fun out there and have a happy New Year!

For the Kids

Noon Year’s Eve at the Zoo

Where: Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium

When: December 31, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

New Year's Eve in Omaha

Ring in 2020 amongst hundreds of exotic animals! At this fun New Year’s Eve event, you and your kids will have a wild time with entertainment from Joe Cole’s Magic Show, music and an early countdown to 2020 complete with a mini beach ball drop at noon.

 

Noon Year’s Eve Celebration

Where: The Durham Museum

When: December 31, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

3-2-1, Happy New Year! Ring in the noon year while wearing handmade party hats, enjoying the celebratory bubble wrap stomp and watching the spectacular balloon drop at noon. Listen to live music by Dino O’Dell and the T-Rex All-Stars and participate in craft activities! Members will receive an expedited entry so you don’t have to wait in line.

 

Noon Year’s Eve With the Saddlebrook Library

Where: Saddlebrook Library

When: December 31, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

The Saddlebrook Library is celebrating the new year with a free event that offers fun for the whole family! The festivities, which include fun inflatables, activities, crafts and more, begin at 10:30 a.m. And there will be a balloon drop at noon to welcome 2020.

 

Noon Year’s Eve Party

Where: Florence Library

When: December 31, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Is there a better way to celebrate the new year than with books, songs and snacks? At the Florence branch of the Omaha Public Library this year, they’ll be hosting a special party just for kids (and chaperones too!). Come out and sing, dance, eat snacks and make party hats! Registration is required.

 

Noon Year’s Eve Party at Gretna’s Children Library

Where: Gretna Children’s Library

When: December 31, 11:30 a.m.

Take the kiddos over to the Gretna Children’s Library for a special Noon Year’s Eve party they’ll never forget! Festivities include storytime, crafts and a spectacular balloon drop at noon.

 

Bubbly New Year’s Eve Party

Where: Omaha Children’s Museum

When: December 31, 4-8 p.m.

Celebrate the new year without having to stay up too late! This year, the Omaha Children’s Museum will be ringing in 2020 with bubbles! Enjoy activities like DIY bubble wands, bubble painting and the Bubble Science Show. The night will end with a bubble wrap stomp, sparkling apple juice toast and a fizzy countdown.

 

New Year’s Eve Fireworks Spectacular

Where: CHI Health Center & TD Ameritrade Park

When: December 31, 7 p.m.

Omaha’s annual Holiday Lights Festival will conclude with a dazzling fireworks show. As one of the largest New Year’s Eve fireworks displays in the midwest, the event draws tens of thousands of people each year, so be sure to arrive early! This year, the event will take place near the CHI Health Center and TD Ameritrade Park due to the construction in the Gene Leahy Mall. Spectators are encouraged to tune into STAR 104.5 to listen to a festive musical score designed to perfectly complement the show. There will also be a number of free parking spaces, so make sure to get there early to grab one! CHI Health Center parking lots A, B and C will open to the public at 6 p.m.

 

For the Adults

New Year’s Eve Celebration

Where: The German-American Society

When: December 31, 5 p.m.-12:30 a.m.

Join the Omaha German-American Society as they ring in 2020! This year, they’ll be hosting a formal dinner along with live music from the Greg Spevak Orchestra and dancing to celebrate the night. Pre-paid reservations are required by December 23rd, so click here to buy your tickets.

 

American Dream NYE Hotel Bash

When: December 31, 6 p.m.-1:30 a.m.
