Whether you’re shopping for the holidays, a birthday, an anniversary or another special occasion, Etsy is a great place to start. Its easy-to-use search tool allows you to track down shops and items in specific locations—so you can shop local and impress that special someone at the same time.
To make sure your loved ones get the perfect gift this holiday season, we rounded up our favorite Iowa shops on Etsy. Happy shopping!
Home & Body Care

Having grown up in a small Iowa farming community, Tim Kahler, owner and operator of Addy and Gar, had a fairly natural and organic lifestyle as a child. His grandmother, “Gar”, and great grandmother, “Addy”, crafted cleaning solutions from the foods they grew in their garden. This instilled a passion for clean, healthy living in Tim and helped create the guiding principles of his shop today. At Addy and Gar, you can purchase handmade, plant-based candles, diffusers, hand soaps, lotions and more! Click here to see all of his in-stock products.
Every home needs a show-stopping wall art piece to pull the decor together and you can’t go wrong with one of these handmade African baskets from Agahozo! Owner Marie creates baskets in every size, color and pattern imaginable—so that you can customize your eye-catching decor piece to whatever fits your loved one’s needs and style best. And it doesn’t hurt that the shop has over 600 five-star reviews!
Home Decor + Apparel
No matter what you need to say, you can say it with a custom piece from The Barn Door Company. Owner Courtney Lowery offers everything from funny wall art and doormats to Iowa-themed apparel and rustic wall shelves. Our favorite item currently in stock is this ‘Iowa Nice’ t-shirt—but we might be a little biased!
Bath & Body

The Bearded Fox Co. is a hand-crafted beard products shop operated out of Des Moines. Owner Cory knows that beard care is important but that it should also be fun! That’s why he offers interesting beard care products like Hipster Doofus Beard Oil and Drunk Grandpa Beard Balm—all featuring unique scents and eye-catching packaging that any of your beard-bearing loved ones will love.
Jamie Van Oort started making scarves when she couldn’t find a specific scarf to go with a friend’s walnut-dyed hat. Too long, too short, too thin, too wide—nothing was as good as what she had pictured in her mind. So she made one herself! After finding that knitting helped relieve her arthritis, Jamie hasn’t stopped, crafting everything from scarves to hats and selling them on her Etsy shop out of Urbandale. Click here to see what yarn creations she has in stock now!
This husband and wife team creates clay and wood handcrafted goods. Offering unique, functional mugs, cutting boards, planters, bowls and more—each item is made completely by hand and with a lot of love! Operated out of Des Moines, Flannel Feather often appears at local craft fairs, or you can arrange to pick up your order in the city and save on shipping! Click here to see where they’ll be this month.
Looking for the perfect gift for the pet lover in your life? Get them a customized pet portrait from Jennifer Boes Art! Jennifer offers adorable paintings of your favorite furry friend—all created using an image that you supply. And in addition to pet paintings, she also crafts abstract wall art that anyone would want in their home! Click here to see what she currently has in stock and examples of her past pieces.
After years of searching for avenues of natural healing in a variety of areas including yoga, bodywork, organic farming, juicing, crystals, essential oils and more, Molly’s Farmacy owner Molly Favret started working specifically in herbs. She slowly started to mix tea for herself before starting to sell online through Etsy. Today, you can find everything from herbal teas and salves to tinctures and more. And if you’re looking for a tea geared towards a specific problem, you can work directly with Molly to create a custom brew that works for you!
Wanting to gift some sustainable presents this year? Head over to Perennity Designs and grab a few of her handmade sustainable accessories. She crafts everything from washable paper bags to minimalist wallets and succulent planters that are made from 100% natural fibers.

If you didn’t already know, macramé is in style once again and homes all across the country are full of intricate fringe art adorning their walls. One of our favorite places to shop for this new trend is Candice Luter Art and Home! What started as a way to use the scraps from her studio, Cedar Rapids artist Candice Luter now crafts unique home accents that made her a finalist in the 2019 Etsy Design Awards. Click here to see her current inventory and nab one of her interesting art pieces for yourself!

Home & Body Care

Thumbprint Soap creates sustainable, all-natural body and home products that will help keep every aspect of your life clean. Owner and operator Katie Adams wanted to use fewer toxic ingredients in her day-to-day routine. After learning how to make her own soaps, she fell in love with the process of creating clean, phthalates and paraben-free products and Thumbprint Soap was born! As an added bonus, a portion of the proceeds from each sale goes to local animal rescues.
