The Ultimate Guide to Omaha Fashion Week 2020

February 21, 2020Add a CommentPosted By

One of Omaha’s most popular annual events, Omaha Fashion Week, will return February 23-29 for its 13th year, bringing local, regional and national designers to showcase their latest looks on the runway. Over the years, Omaha Fashion Week has become the fifth largest fashion event in the country. But even more than that, it has served as an outlet for the community to come together, learn, and celebrate some of the city’s best fashion talent.

Though it is a glamorous red carpet event, Omaha Fashion Week also nurtures the youngest of fashion designers by providing mentoring opportunities and a professional platform to showcase their work. The event connects these budding designers with national artists, photographers and models recognized across the globe.

So if you’re interested in attending this iconic event—check out our guide! We’ve rounded up our most anticipated OFW events along with the bios of some Omaha locals who will be featured throughout the week. So read on, get your tickets, and get ready to immerse yourself in the world of fabulous fashion!

Must-See Local Designers

Anisha Fashionista

A Nebraska native, 2020 OFW featured designer Anisha Fashionista has been a well-known local designer for several years. In fact, she even designed an iconic wrap top for Amanda Kreft, the Vice President of Omaha’s Fashion Institute Guild, for FIG’s Fashion Impact Awards in Omaha in 2017. We love looking at her past collections, most of which feature bright colors, floral patterns and twists on traditional styles.

No stranger to Omaha Fashion Week, Lauren Glowaki has spent many seasons attending and volunteering at shows. This year, she’ll be showcasing her work for the second year in a row as an emerging designer. Based in Fremont, Lauren pulled her inspiration from her latest collection from ‘90s styles and a giant mural from Chicago along with female empowerment—crafting a collection that is colorful, edgy and powerful.

RoninScar

Just 21 years old, University of Nebraska-Lincoln student Alex Scarpello—known professionally as RoninScar—is one of the most promising upcoming designers in the Midwest. He is presenting his work during the Emerging Designer Showcase on Friday night, and you can expect to see unique, out-of-this-world designs presented in unusual ways. Want a peek at his previous collections? Check out his online portfolio.

Hannah Nodskov, owner and operator of Hannah Caroline Couture, has always loved fashion. After finding that the fashion industry wasn’t super welcoming to people of different sizes, she took to YouTube and taught herself to sew. Years later, she’s the proud owner of one of Nebraska’s favorite online destinations for wedding dresses and other special occasions. You can see some of her incredible work during the Aisle Premier Bridal Salon & Fashion Showcase.

Samuel Macke

Based in Lincoln, Samuel Macke is one emerging designer we can’t wait to see. His recent collection is a “nod to the past that pushes into the future” with an emphasis on effortless wear. According to Macke, the perfect garment is something that is both extravagant and easy to wear—and we tend to agree!
