Where to Get an Irish Coffee in the Omaha Area

March 11, 2020Add a CommentPosted By

St. Patrick’s Day parades and celebrations are just around the corner and it’s high time to find a great spot to enjoy a creamy, boozy glass of Irish coffee. An Irish coffee consists of hot coffee, Irish whiskey and sugar, topped with thick cream. And while we love enjoying this warm, soothing drink all year long, there’s something special about sipping it around this Irish holiday!

We scoured the Omaha area to find the best classic versions of this toddy, as well as a few modern spins. Here are a few of our favorites. Enjoy!

Brazen Head was purposefully established to emulate the rich traditions that have made authentic Irish pubs famous. In fact, this Omaha staple mimics one Irish pub in particular—The Brazen Head on Bridge Street in Dublin, Ireland. They stay true to this model here in Omaha with a hearty food menu, including Irish pub fare, a long list of beer offerings and, of course, a wide selection of Irish coffees! Choose from the classic “The Brazen Head” featuring Jameson, Irish Mist and whipped cream, or the “Alpine Mint” which features Bailey’s Mint and Rumplemintz, topped with whipped cream.

The Library Pub

5142 North 90th Street, Omaha

More of a beer drinker? The Library Pub is the spot for you this St. Patrick’s Day! Not only do they offer a large rotating selection of stouts and porters that will satisfy your Irish craving, this year they’ve added the Irish Coffee Stout from Scratchtown Brewing Company to their menu. Featuring a Tobacco Island Foreign Extra Stout and infused with Irish Whiskey and coffee from a local roaster, this incredibly dark and tasty brew gives beer lovers the chance to enjoy Irish coffee without all the muss and fuss.

Friendly service, a classy yet approachable atmosphere and delicious, handcrafted cocktails await you at Inkwell! The bar has literary influences, and some of your favorite classic authors are the inspiration behind the craft cocktails on the menu. Their Irish coffee is served in a stunning, goblet-like glass, mixed with Paddy Irish Whiskey (or another Irish whiskey of your choice) and topped with a thick layer of cream. And you can get it for just $5 during their happy hour special 3-6 p.m. daily.

Maloney’s Irish Pub

1830 North 72nd Street, Omaha

Featuring entertainment like pool, darts, shuffleboard, mega-touch and volleyball leagues, there isn’t a shortage of things to do at this Irish pub. They happen to be home to the largest selection of Irish whisky in Nebraska. And because of their massive list of whiskey offerings, you know they have one of the best Irish coffees in town! Stop into their cozy space on North 72nd Street this month (or pretty much any other time of the year) to try it for yourself.

Nite Owl is one of the most unique cocktail bars in Omaha, offering a festive and friendly atmosphere, elevated food and drink, and quirky decor that is unlike anywhere else in town! The cocktail menu features seasonal options and rotates frequently. And if you’re looking for Irish coffee, you’ve come to the right place. They’ve put their own innovative twist on the traditional drink by turning it into a slushie! Made with Archetype Coffee cold brew, coconut milk, cocoa nibs and bitters and topped with whipped cream—this deliciously sweet cocktail will hit the spot this month, no matter how cold it is outside.

Annie’s Irish Pub

1101 Davenport Street, Omaha

One of Omaha’s newest Irish bars, Annie’s has become a destination for a fun atmosphere, cold beer and delicious cocktails. Try their incredible Irish coffee, Irish hot chocolate or just plain Irish whiskey during the AOH Post-St. Patrick’s Day Parade Party on March 14th or stop in on any other cold night to warm up. They often host DJs, TV watching parties, and more. Check out their calendar to see what’s coming up this month!

Mr. Toad is a popular pub nestled in the heart of Old Market featuring church pew seating, stained glass windows and one of our favorite restaurant patios in Omaha! During the winter months, this cozy cocktail destination offers a special hot drinks menu, which highlights a hot toddy, Bailey’s and hot chocolate and—you guessed it!—a scrumptious Irish coffee that has been a staple at the pub for more than 35 years. If you’re in the mood for another treat, make sure to order their famous “Special Coffee” which is a special five-liquor blend served in a large snifter and piled with homemade whipped cream.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
