Many local gyms, yoga studios, CrossFit boxes and more have started offering online live streams of classes, easy-to-follow instructional videos, and personal virtual coaching to help keep you healthy during the pandemic. Metro YMCA has 10 Omaha area locations including centers in Council Bluffs and Papillion. More than just weightlifting and cardio, the YMCA focuses on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility for all its guests. During this time, they are offering a “Y Without Walls” program online! From PDF sheet workouts and videos on Youtube to live Zoom classes, they have become Greater Omaha’s destination for free, virtual fitness during the pandemic.
Pilates Center of Omaha is dedicated to raising the standard of Pilates training in Omaha and the Midwest, and that includes providing you with easy-to-follow workouts during the pandemic! While they’ve reopened their studio to some, they are still continuing to offer virtual classes for those who aren’t ready to venture out yet. From virtual pilates on the mat to athletic conditioning, every week they have a packed schedule of online classes for you to enjoy.

After growing up in Dublin in a family of fighters, Mick Doyle moved to the United States and quickly became known as one of the best active fighters in the world. He has coached the US Muay Thai Team, won multiple world titles and achieved much more. They have been posting free, easy-to-follow videos on YouTube and offering private and small group virtual coaching through Zoom. While they are planning on reopening on May 11th with some restrictions, if you’re planning on staying home for a while more, their online videos are a great resource!
With seven health clubs around the Omaha area, Genesis Health Clubs is one of the most convenient spots to workout in the area! Each of their gyms provides cardio and weight training equipment, group fitness classes, personal trainers, yoga, pilates and so much more. Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, they have been posting daily workout videos on Facebook, to help you keep your blood pumping at home. Indoor cycling is one of the hottest trends in fitness right now, and it’s not difficult to understand why. Not only is it tremendously effective (some classes burn up to 1,200 calories in an hour), but it’s also fun. Elevate is Omaha’s most popular cycling gym, boasting highly qualified instructors, an upbeat and motivating atmosphere, and a tight-knit community. If you do have a stationary bike at home, you can take some of their cycling classes online. And if you don’t—no worries! They are also offering box and sculpt classes online. This YouTube channel has been going strong for over 10 years and currently has more than 5 million subscribers. Offering free, virtual pilates workouts along with a fresh dose of body-positivity every single day, Blogilates is a great destination for home workouts for everyone, no matter your fitness level!
If you’re a fitness lover, you probably already have a Fitbit. If you do, then you can sign up for Fitbit Premium, which costs $10 a month and allows you to get personalized guidance on your workouts, using actual stats from your everyday routine. While they usually offer a 7-day free trial, they’ve currently increased it to 90 days!
Les Mills’ collection of over 800 videos covers strength, cardio, HIIT, dance, flexibility and more. Start with a free trial then choose a monthly, quarterly or annual membership.
Peloton is known for their luxurious stationary bikes, but they’re so much more than that. They also have an app, which you can access with a Peloton Digital Membership. The app features an extensive library of workouts streamed live and on-demand from their studio, and many don’t require equipment!
Pure Barre On Demand offers members the chance to take the classic barre workout in 5 to 60-minute classes from anywhere. The classes consist of multiple small movements, targeting different muscle groups. The cost is $29.99 per month but you can sign up for a 7-day free trial to try it out.
With over 7 million subscribers, Yoga With Adriene is a YouTube channel featuring a library of free high-quality yoga videos ranging in difficulty and length.
If you’re looking for a fun, unique workout experience—this one’s for you. Zombies, Run! costs $5.99 and basically tricks you into working out by making running a game. In Zombies, Run!, you are a runner en route to one of humanity’s last remaining outposts, and your help is needed to gather supplies and rescue survivors. As you run, you’ll collect supplies, but if you start getting chased by zombies, you better speed up!
