Lakes and Rivers for Swimming

P.) Lake Manawa State Park
Location
Lake Manawa State Park in Council Bluffs is a popular destination for swimmers and sunbathers of all ages. The modern beach facility at Lake Manawa is a wonderful clean location to enjoy the lake — both underwater or alongside the water. There are plenty of picnic/shelter areas, trails, and other lake activity options (such as boating and fishing) in this park, so there is plenty to do during your visit! There’s a refreshment stand near the beach area as well, so you can grab some food and a refreshing beverage while you relax on the water’s edge.
Q.) Fremont Lakes
Location
The Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area holds 40 acres of land and nearly 300 acres of water in 20 sandpit lakes. This is an extremely popular destination for campers, picnickers, and water-lovers alike. The Fremont Lakes area offers four swimming beaches on lakes 9, 10, 15, and 20 with no lifeguards on duty. R.) Two Rivers State Park
Location
Head to the relaxing swimming beach on the Platte River at Two Rivers State Park, in Waterloo just west of Omaha. This recreation area is nestled between two rivers (as the name implies) — the Platte River and Elkhorn River. This is a nice area to let the kids splash around in the water as you enjoy your time relaxing in the shaded tree area along the shore.
S.) Louisville
Location
Louisville State Recreation Area has a swimming beach on Lake #2 that is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the summer (Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend). There is a changing house conveniently located near the beach, but there is no lifeguard on duty. The entire recreation area encompasses 192 acres of land, with five sandpit lakes, cottonwood trees, picnic areas, and more. This area is right next to Platte River State Park, which means you could even visit both in the same day!

T.) Eugene T. Mahoney State Park
Location
Eugene T. Mahoney State Park is a year-round destination for families, offering just about any activity you could imagine! The aquatic center and indoor playground includes a swimming pool with two water slides, a diving area, a zero-entry wave pool, a sun deck, and a concession area. Extend your stay by checking into the Peter Kiewit Lodge with guest rooms overlooking the Platte River valley. With a full-service restaurant, an arts and crafts center, a variety of cabins and camping opportunities, and hiking and biking trails, this is the perfect place to spend the weekend!
U.) CoCo Key Resort — To escape the sun indoors

CoCo Key Resort at the Ramada Plaza Inn in Omaha is Nebraska’s top family destination resort, offering comfortable accommodations adjacent to the 65,000-square-foot indoor water park. Your kids will have a blast with the 40-foot body- and raft-slides, Adventure River, Parrot’s Perch interactive play island, dip-in kiddie pool, and more. With poolside cabanas, restaurants, bars, and a spa, you’ll have a relaxing and fun-filled experience as well!
V.) Pirate Cove Water Park — To soak up the sun outdoors

Pirate Cove Water Park is a popular water adventure destination in Council Bluffs. The water park includes an enormous Z-shaped pool with a zero-depth area, play features, a diving board, two water slides (both covered and open), a separate splash pool area, and a sand area. Relax in the shaded seating area, grab some food and drinks from the concession stand, and admire the unique pirate ship in the pool!
W.) Fun-Plex Water Park
Location
The waterpark at Fun-Plex is open all summer long, providing non-stop fun for the whole family. The adults will love swimming up to Nebraska’s only swim-up bar that just opened this summer, and the kids will have a blast splashing around in Typhoon Falls, the Lazzzy River, Motion Ocean, or the Kiddie Pool! Pay for admission to this thrilling park for an entire day of adventure — or grab season passes if you think it will become a family favorite!
X.) Fremont Splash Station
Location
The Fremont Splash Station is a modern, family-friendly pool with something for everyone. These summertime facilities in Fremont includes a body slide, speed slide, combination lap pool and wave pool, Hydro-Storm, interactive train slide, splash pad, water walk, and a zero-depth entry to the pool. There is also a full-service concessions stand, bathhouse, family changing room, lockers, chaise lounge chairs, inner tubes, and lots of green space to enjoy! The Fremont Splash Station is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. between May 28 and August 13!
Y.) Papio Bay Aquatic Center
Location
The Papio Bay Aquatic Center is a popular summertime destination covering 5 acres of land with a zero-depth swimming pool, a children’s butterfly slide, sand volleyball courts, concessions, two water slides, a sand play area, wading pools, diving boards, and more! This is the perfect place to go swimming and experience all that Papillion has to offer in the summertime.
