8 Unconventional Places to Get Married in the Omaha Area

Here in Omaha, we have an eclectic mix of people and places. You’ll find hipsters in Benson, business personalities in Old Market, and a few cowboys thrown in for good measure. And let’s face it, when Omahans fall in love, they need a wedding venue that merges their unique personalities and something that stands out from the crowd.

Lucky for us, our diverse culture has resulted in some of the most distinctive venues you’ll find in the region. From museums and concert halls to barns, to vineyards and even one of the best zoos in the country — you’ll find something to match your independent spirit and a place for all your friends and family to toast your new life together!

It’s literally one of the best zoos in the country and it can also be the setting for your unforgettable wedding! Exchange rings, dine and dance the night away under the shark tank, among exotic wildlife, overlooking the Lied Jungle or in four other indoor and outdoor areas across the zoo.

It was once a renowned vaudeville theater and now it’s one of Omaha’s best performance destinations. At the historic Orpheum Theater, you can see your name in lights, dance on stage and exchange vows among the breath-taking art deco decor. Celebrate in the heart of the theater, Slosburg Hall, or inside Lauritzen Lobby, Grand Lobby and several other decadent spaces! Since the above wedding photos from CB Yates Photography were taken in 2011, the outdoor marquee has been updated and is now digital.

The Durham Museum

The Durham Museum was once Omaha’s historic Union Station. Today, it serves as an educational experience by day and an extravagant, sophisticated, fun venue by night. Everything is as it was when the station originally opened in the 1930’s with original art deco architecture and design. With the freedom to use your own florist, caterer, planner and photographer, you can pair that with your own character to create a truly unique event.

If you’re looking for rustic, natural and unforgettable, your search is over. The infamous Barn in Bennington was built in 1935 and operated as one of the largest Dairy Farms in the state.  Over the course of its life, the building has served multiple uses — including a community pumpkin patch. Most recently, with new ownership and the completion of Phase One renovations, it has become one of the most charming, rustic locales for any wedding! Outside, immerse yourself in nature and get married under the sun; inside you’ll find a bright, inviting space for dining and dancing.

Right in the heart of Old Market, you can exchange vows in what was once the historic Omaha Bolt, Nut and Screw building. Originally built in 1889, the exposed brick inside and out at 1316 Jones Street dates back 120 years. String lights, sunny spaces and rustic charm make this the perfect place for an intimate wedding — especially if guests want to explore Omaha nightlife afterward and stay in the historic Magnolia Hotel down the street!
