Omaha just happens to have one of the best and most diverse music scenes in the country. National Geographic even named Omaha as one of the “musically grooviest” cities in the United States in 2018.
Some truly incredible bands hail from Omaha, including Bright Eyes and 311, along with the famous Indie record label, Saddle Creek Records. So, it’s no surprise to us that Omaha is bursting with places to experience that music scene first hand.
We compiled a list of our favorites right here. From iconic music venues to hole-in-the-wall bars — there’s a little bit of everything on this list!

If you’re looking for a place to dance the night away, The Bourbon Saloon is the perfect spot for you. This nightclub and bar features a dance party every Friday and Saturday night! Throughout the week they offer live music along with other special events such as comedy nights and holiday parties.

For a slightly quieter night, stop by The Harney Street Tavern. This venue is mostly acoustic and offers plenty of unplugged fun. Stop by any day of the week to enjoy great drinks and music from your favorite local bands.

Open until two in the morning every night, O’Leaver’s is a great place to hang out any day of the week. Their incredible ambiance and staff will always make you feel welcome, but it’s the spectacular performers you’ll see that will keep you coming back for more.

The building that now houses the Waiting Room has been many things from a car dealership in the 1920s, the legendary Lift Ticket Lounge through the 1980s and 90s, and a motorcycle-focused bar: D Dub’s Pub. In 2010, the building finally became the iconic lounge that we know and love today. A visit to The Waiting Room is something every Omahan should do at least once.

Buck’s Bar and Grill serves one of the best prime ribs around, made even better with unbeatable live performances from local musicians. Their menu, along with the incredible atmosphere and amazing service, make this small town gem an absolute must-try.

The Lookout Lounge is perfect for those who dabble in a lot of different genres of music. They bring the best underground punk, metal, ska, hip-hop and everything in between to their hidden Omaha gem just for you. Here, you’ll find loud music, great drinks and awesome people.

There’s no better place to party in Omaha than The Hive! Located in Old Market, this rock club gives you the chance to enjoy delicious craft cocktails and great live music — all while surrounded by beautiful decor.

Since opening in 2004, Soaring Wings Vineyard has become the Omaha destination for great wine and beer. You’ll find live music from acoustic to country to pair with your beverage of choice.
