As much as we love our dining staples—the places we frequent again and again—there’s something extra special about visiting a brand new spot. Of course, with so many newcomers to the Omaha dining scene, it can be tricky to figure out which places are actually worth a visit.

That’s why we rounded up some of the hottest spots in Omaha that recently opened—from a brand new all-day diner to a new unique dessert destination. These delicious newcomers could eventually become some of the city’s most beloved eateries, topping our list of the best restaurants in the city. Jojo’s Diner

Opened in December of 2019, this vibrant Benson spot is the perfect mix of an all-day diner and an Instagram-famous spot. Inside you’ll find brightly colored murals, neon signs and a few vintage-style details. As for food offerings, we can’t wait to try their Peruvian style roasted chicken, Nashville Hot Waffle and decadent Maccin’ Cheez—all paired with, of course, a boozy milkshake. DarBar Indian Cusine

3901 Farnam Street, Omaha

Nestled in our favorite foodie neighborhood, the Blackstone District, DarBar is an Indian restaurant offering some of the best cuisine in town alongside a delicious buffet. Once known as the Indian Bowl, DarBar recently reopened with a new name and a revamped menu—which we’re dying to try. Bigway Chicken & Ice Cream

This new fast-casual spot has everything. Chicken (in all shapes and sizes), rice bowls, sandwiches, burgers, fries, onion rings and beignets are just some of the things they offer on their extensive menu! While their helpful staff is available to answer questions and help you develop your wine palate, their main goal is to make you feel comfortable and welcome in their new, intimate space. In addition to hundreds of wines to choose from, you can also get nosh like almonds, nuts and carefully curated charcuterie boards. And the best part? All of their offerings are incredibly affordable!


Lola’s Cafe

Located in the historic Dundee Theater, this brand new cafe is a great place to grab a bite before a film, settle down with a cup of coffee, or host a community meeting! Opened November of 2019, Copps Pizza has been capturing the hearts (and stomachs) of Omaha residents and visitors alike. From the same mastermind behind Omaha’s The Berry & RyeWicked RabbitLaka Lono Rum Club and Monarch Prime, this new basement cocktail bar in West Omaha will be your new favorite hangout spot. While Alice isn’t a second location of Wicked Rabbit, it still continues on the “Alice in Wonderland” theme with whimsical seating, stained glass light fixtures, a classy bar, and hidden entrance. In addition to the captivating decor, they also offer reasonably priced and creative drinks served by a friendly and welcoming staff.


Khao Niao Thai-Lao Restaurant

15505 Ruggles Street, Omaha

Opened in December of 2019, this family-owned restaurant is serving up delicious Thai and Laotian dishes to the West Omaha community! Some of the menu highlights include pho, pad Thai, sticky rice and Thai-style steaks—which we can’t wait to try! The best part? Everything served at Khao Niao is completely fresh, never frozen and all-natural.

A “Brownie Bar” isn’t something we knew we needed… until now. Head to the brand new Brownie Bar near the Durham Museum and build your own deliciously sweet creation! Reminiscent of an ice cream sundae bar, you can pick your brownie flavor and then cover it in toppings of your choosing—from peanut butter frosting to fudge sauce and raspberry compote.
