As communities nationwide look for ways to support the Black community, you may be wondering what you can to show your support locally. Across the country, people are making monetary donations to organizations serving the Black community and fighting systems of racial inequality, educating themselves on issues facing the Black community in order to become a better ally, advocating for policy change, and more.
Locally, it’s just as important to show support, whether that’s by donating to Omaha NAACP, ACLU Nebraska or the Urban League of Nebraska, voting in the upcoming local election, or showing your support by patroning one of the many Black-owned businesses in the Omaha area.
To help you find a list of businesses you can support, we created the guide below. We know this is not a definitive list, so if we missed one of your favorite Black-owned businesses and organizations in our community, please let us know in the comments below. While this is a start, we encourage you to continue showing your support to these local business owners — long after the protests end.
