Believe it or not, Labor Day is just around the corner. The three-day weekend typically marks the end of summer, but don\u2019t worry, we\u2019re not willing to let this season go without one final hurrah! <\/span><\/p>\n

In the Omaha and Council Bluffs area, we certainly knows how to throw a good party, which is why there are plenty of celebratory events occurring over the long weekend. We rounded up a few NP Dodge-approved picks that we are most looking forward to, so don your white pants and get ready to hit the town!<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

First Friday at the Old Market <\/b><\/h3>\n
September 1 <\/span><\/i><\/h5>\n

Held the first Friday of each month, <\/span>this event<\/span><\/a> allows locals and visitors alike to explore Omaha\u2019s art galleries, meet the artists, and get a fresh perspective. Wander through the Old Market on foot, or better yet, catch a free ride on <\/span>Ollie the Trolley<\/span><\/a>! We can\u2019t imagine a better way to kickstart the weekend. <\/span><\/p>\n

La Festa Italiana <\/b><\/h3>\n
September 1-3<\/span><\/i><\/h5>\n

La Festa Italiana<\/span><\/a> has graced Omaha for 33 years, with crowds growing by the year. It\u2019s not difficult to see why the event has grown so popular over three decades \u2014 authentic Italian cuisine, wine, beer, fireworks and dancing under the stars sounds like a dream come true. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Nebraska State Fair <\/b><\/h3>\n
August 25-September 4 <\/span><\/i><\/h5>\n

Anyone who has explored the live music, booths and events at the Nebraska State Fair know that it is always an event to remember. Take in the Nebraska culture (and eat lots of fried food) at this family-friendly fest, which starts August 25 and wraps up on September 4. Labor Day weekend will welcome performances by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joan Jett & the Heartbreakers and Cole Swindell. September Fest <\/b><\/h3>\n
September 1-4<\/span><\/i><\/h5>\n

Get ready for four days of entertainment! <\/span>SeptemberFest<\/span><\/a> returns for its 40th year with live music, a beer garden, a carnival, arts & crafts stations, food from local vendors and even a Kiddie Kingdom for your little monsters. The event typically draws crowds from visitors all over the five-state area, including Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and South Dakota, and wraps up with a labor day parade at 10 am on Monday. Don\u2019t miss out on the fun! <\/span><\/p>\n

Husker Football Season Kickoff <\/b><\/h3>\n
September 2, 7 pm<\/h5>\n

\u2018Tis the season for tailgating! Husker Football Season will kick off on Saturday with a game against Arkansas State at memorial stadium. You can buy your tickets <\/span>here<\/span><\/a> to root for your favorite team in person, and r<\/span>egardless of if you\u2019re in the stadium, at home or with your friends in a sports bar, be sure to don your red and white and give the Huskers the season kick off celebration they deserve. <\/span><\/p>\n

Zoo Run<\/b><\/h3>\n
September 3, 7 am <\/span><\/h5>\n

You might not be as fast as a cheetah, and maybe not even as fast as a zebra, but you can run alongside them at the <\/span>37th annual Zoo Run<\/span><\/a>! Sign up for either a five-mile or two-mile run that will meander through and around the zoo, and then enjoy free zoo admission after the race. A bagel and banana breakfast will be provided.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Labor Day Weekend at the Zoo <\/b><\/h3>\n
September 2-4 <\/span><\/h5>\n

If you\u2019re not interested in the race, fear not! There are still <\/span>plenty of entertainment options for you at the zoo<\/span><\/a>. Say goodbye to summer alongside the zebras, giraffes and flamingos, and enjoy wild entertainment perfect for all ages. We hear there will be airbrush tattoos, bounce houses and presentations with the animals. <\/span><\/p>\n

Go Girl Run<\/b><\/h3>\n
September 4, 8-10 am<\/span><\/i><\/h5>\n

Who runs the world? Girls. The 20th Annual Go Girl Run<\/a> takes place on Labor Day morning, and welcomes women from all over the region to walk, jog or sprint in the 5K and one mile races. The event will feature a pancake breakfast courtesy of The <\/span>Pancake Man<\/span><\/a>, and proceeds from the race will benefit the <\/span>Hope Center for Kids<\/span><\/a>. Even if you choose not to race, come cheer on your girls! The sidelines are just as fun.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tour the Blackstone District<\/strong><\/h3>\n
September 2 through October 7<\/em><\/h5>\n

Named for one of Omaha’s most famed landmarks, The Blackstone Hotel, this district is the city’s hottest district for grabbing a craft cocktail, sitting down for a bite with friends, or simply taking in the sights. Join\u00a0Omaha Culinary Tours<\/a>\u00a0as they guide you through a taste test of the district\u00a0and explain the historical significance of the area.<\/p>\n
