Well, another year has come and gone, which means many of us are (once again) tackling a list of New Year\u2019s resolutions. Frequently, these resolutions come with a promise to veer toward more healthy foods, but unfortunately, Omaha is home to so many delicious restaurants \u2014 and so many Instagram-worthy meals<\/a> \u2014 it can be tough to ward off temptation.<\/p>\n

Apologies in advance, but we\u2019re going to go ahead and make that even more difficult for you. These Omaha-area restaurants all serve up sinfully satisfying meals that make cheating on your New Year\u2019s diet worth it. Because whether you\u2019re hungry for something sweet or savory, crispy or doughy \u2014 sometimes cravings just can\u2019t be helped. That’s what cheat days are for!<\/p>\n

Block 16 has been a local favorite for years, and with its warm atmosphere and delicious cuisine, there\u2019s no mystery as to why! Owners Paul and Jessica put their minds together to craft memorable meals with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and you\u2019ll likely want to try everything on the menu. Before you do that, make sure to order some of the Duck Duck Goose Fries for the table. With duck confit, crispy skin, cheese, duck-fat mayo and gooseberry gastrique \u2014 these fries are what dreams are made of.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re still hungry (or even if you\u2019re not), try the Croque Garcon, a \u2153-pound burger topped with cheese, ham, a sunny-side-up egg, mustard and truffle oil on a ciabatta roll. Alton Brown even named this creation his favorite hamburger in the country<\/a>, comparing it to \u201chigh art.\u201d Whoa.<\/p>\n

At Over Easy, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The kitchen works hard to turn out fresh, flavorful and sinfully satisfying dishes that look just as good as they taste! Biscuits and gravy, French toast, hashbrown rounds and homemade pop tarts are a few of the menu standouts, but don\u2019t miss the Dutch Baby pancake. This traditional (and very fluffy) breakfast dish is created with flour, milk and lots of butter, and is so delicious. Top it with your choice of seasonal jam or powdered sugar.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no doubt in our minds that Stella\u2019s Bar & Grill is one of the best places to get a burger in the Omaha area<\/a>. In fact, the burgers have landed on Omaha Magazine\u2019s best of Omaha list<\/a> every year since 2008! The Bellevue locale has been serving locals and visitors alike since 1936, and the burger is the result of a tried-and-true family recipe passed down for generations. You can\u2019t go wrong with anything on the menu, but while you\u2019re cheating on your diet, you might as well go all out and try the Stellanator challenge. You\u2019ll have 45 minutes to eat six patties, six eggs, six slices of cheese, 12 pieces of bacon, and all the fixin\u2019s. Oh, and don\u2019t forget the fries! Good luck.<\/p>\n

When Taco Tuesday rolls around, there\u2019s no better place to be than Voodoo Taco. This local shop won 2017\u2019s Best of Omaha competition<\/a> for its delicious and innovative tacos \u2014 and with ingredients like smoked alligator sausage, braised pork and fried avocado, we are not the least bit surprised. The menu has something to satisfy every craving, but we are particularly enamored with the Barbacoa Beef Taco, which features slow-cooked shredded beef, spicy bbq sauce, avocado, Cajun fried onions, Cotija cheese, queso and cilantro. We\u2019d also add a side of chips and queso for good measure \u2014 mmm mmm good.<\/p>\n

Bonus: For dessert, don\u2019t miss out on the cheesecake taco with chocolate sauce!<\/p>\n

In our opinion, it’s never too cold outside for ice cream! Nestled in the heart of Omaha\u2019s Blackstone District, Coneflower creamery churns farm-to-cone ice cream in a variety of interesting flavors. The desserts are all made with seasonal ingredients from local farms, and everything down to the sprinkles is made fresh in the kitchen. Try a scoop of the butter brickle, which pays homage to a historical Omaha ice cream flavor first introduced in the 1920s by the Blackstone Hotel. We also recommend accompanying your flavor of choice with some of the house-made artisanal root beer!<\/p>\n
