As summer winds down, celebrate the last unofficial days of the season by participating in one \u2014 or all \u2014 of these fun events in the Omaha area!<\/span><\/p>\n

La Festa Italiana | Sept. 2 – 4, 2016<\/h2>\n

This year is the 32nd anniversary of <\/span>Omaha\u2019s La Festa Italiana<\/span><\/a>, a festival celebrating Italian food and culture. Hosted by the <\/span>American Italian Heritage Society<\/span><\/a>, this festival has Italian cuisine, wine, beer and dancing under the stars. The fun starts at 6 p.m. on Friday, 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday. Don\u2019t forget your dancing shoes as different headliners perform each evening at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at 13 Hy-Vee Omaha metro locations. <\/span><\/p>\n

Nebraska State Fair | Sept. 2 – 5, 2016<\/h2>\n

The 174th Nebraska State Fair<\/span><\/a> ends on Labor Day, but will still be packed with delicious fare, entertainment and music during its final days! Throughout the long weekend, you can expect food competitions, hay bale decorating contests, livestock exhibits, a scavenger hunt, and much more that all lead up to a parade and a salute to our veterans on Monday. Bring the whole family to celebrate our state\u2019s amazing culture! <\/span><\/p>\n

Septemberfest Omaha: A Salute to Labor | Sept. 2 – 5, 2016<\/h2>\n

Omaha\u2019s Septemberfest<\/span><\/a> has been offering family fun every Labor Day weekend since 1977. There are musical acts in the Beer Garden, a giant carnival and Omaha\u2019s largest parade. This year\u2019s event will also host <\/span>Wild About Dinosaurs<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>The Omaha RollerGirls<\/span><\/a>, Omaha\u2019s premier roller derby team. Tickets can be purchased the day of the event for $5, and children under 5-years-old are admitted for free! <\/span><\/p>\n

Buddy Graves and Friends Jazz | Sept. 2, 2016<\/h2>\n

Omaha is known for its diverse music scene, and <\/span>Touch of Class<\/span><\/a> offers an opportunity to hear some of the best jazz music in the city! \u00a0Every Friday at 8 p.m., <\/span>Buddy Graves and Friends<\/span><\/a> gather at this local lounge to put on a free jazz show for patrons. If you\u2019ve never been to Touch of Class on a Friday night, Labor Day weekend is the perfect time to start a new tradition!<\/span><\/p>\n

Husker Season Kickoff | Sept. 3, 2016<\/h2>\n

At 7 p.m. on Saturday the Huskers kick off at Memorial Stadium\u00a0against Fresno State. The first game of the season is sure to be an exciting event all through town (and all through Nebraska, for that matter!).\u00a0Get tickets here<\/a> to watch in person and be sure to read our Huskers Guide<\/a>. If you’re not celebrating in person, watch at a local bar with friends or throw your own Husker Kickoff Barbecue! However you celebrate, be sure to see\u00a0the Huskers beat the Bulldogs!<\/p>\n

The Happy Together Tour | Sept. 3, 2016<\/h2>\n

Boomer 1490 radio station and Huffman Productions are putting on <\/span>The Happy Together Tour<\/span><\/a> at Ralston Arena on September 3 at 7 p.m. Featuring <\/span>The Turtles<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Chuck Negron from Three Dog Night<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Gary Puckett and the Union Gap<\/span><\/a>, among others, this musical event covers music from the 60s and 70s. Tickets range from $30 – $100 and should be purchased ahead of time <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Omaha Farmers Market in Old Market | Sept. 3, 2016<\/h2>\n

Over 100 vendors cover Old Market every Saturday from 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. offering fresh foods, produce and crafted items. <\/span>The market<\/span><\/a> winds down in October so head down this Labor Day weekend and support local makers and growers!<\/span><\/p>\n

Energy for Life Walkathon | Sept. 3, 2016<\/h2>\n

The Energy for Life Walkathon<\/span><\/a> is taking place on September 3 and serves to raise funds and increase awareness of mitochondrial disease. The 3k walk begins at <\/span>Miller\u2019s Landing<\/span><\/a>, crosses the <\/span>Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge<\/span><\/a> into Iowa, and finishes back at Miller\u2019s Landing. There is no registration fee to participate in this event, but each team is encouraged to raise at least $100 per team member to help support the overall Omaha chapter goal. <\/span>Register your team today<\/span><\/a> and spend your Labor Day Weekend supporting a great cause!<\/span><\/p>\n

19th Annual Go Girl Run 5k | Sept. 5, 2016<\/h2>\n

With both one mile and 5k races, the <\/span>Go Girl Run<\/span><\/a> is a women-only run and fundraising event to benefit the <\/span>Hope Center for Kids<\/span><\/a>. Boys and girls ages 14 and under are also welcome to run in either distance. Participants should come hungry as The Pancake Man<\/a> will be serving up a delicious free breakfast to anyone wearing their racing bib!
