To help you plan your next summer adventure, we created a list of our favorite activities in Dundee. From spending an afternoon at the area\u2019s fabulous parks to saying goodbye to the season in style at Dundee Day \u2014 you\u2019ll find an abundance of summer pursuits right here. Have a Blast at <\/span>Dundee Day<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

Dundee Day began in the 1950s as a sidewalk sale and became an official day of events in 1992. Over the years, events like a \u201cprettiest baby contest\u201d and local artist appearances have graced the day\u2019s itinerary and you can bet that this year\u2019s will be chock full of fun, unique events as well! Head to Downtown Dundee on August 24th, and enjoy a fantastic parade, a 5K run, art and craft vendors, a book sale, a pancake breakfast, food trucks, live music and a beer garden. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Explore the Parks <\/span><\/h2>\n

The Dundee neighborhood has two major parks that residents and visitors enjoy: Memorial Park and Elmwood Park. The majestic memorial at the top of the hill at Memorial Park honors all the men and women in Douglas County who have served in the armed forces. It also hosts several patriotic and recreational events, such as the popular concert and fireworks display every year on the Fourth of July. The large grass areas throughout the park are the perfect place to kick a soccer ball around, go on a walk, or enjoy the abundance of the park\u2019s rose bushes during summer vacation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Visit the <\/span>Dundee Community Garden<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

In 2009, the Dundee Community Garden took root in the neighborhood, featuring 41 4-by-10-foot plots, rain barrels, compost piles, solar panels, pollinator flowers and more. The garden hosts educational workshops and fun events, but also donates large portions of their harvest to the underserved within the community. Take a moment this season to explore the garden and chat with some of the local gardeners. Who knows? You might even be able to get on the exclusive member list and start planting your own garden!<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cool Down With Some Ice Cream<\/h2>\n

After all of this adventuring, you\u2019re going to need to treat yourself to some ice cream. Good thing Dundee is home to one of our favorite ice cream spots, the eCreamery<\/a>! This unique creamery was founded in 2007 by ice cream enthusiasts, Becky App and Abby Jordan and gives you the chance to customize both your flavor and packaging \u2014 for an ice cream experience like none other. While you’re welcome to order their famous ice cream online, we recommend visiting their only brick and mortar shop in Dundee if you have a chance!<\/p>\n

Get Your Caffeine Fix at a Local Coffee Shop<\/span><\/h2>\n

Our quaint neighborhood just happens to be home to two fantastic coffee shops that are perfect for cooling you off on a hot day and giving you your much-needed caffeine fix.\u00a0<\/span>Blue Line Coffee\u00a0<\/span><\/a>is a local favorite, offering fair-trade espresso drinks and light bites (including Omaha\u2019s best blueberry muffin) in a homey caf\u00e9. We also love\u00a0<\/span>Dundee Double Shot Coffee<\/span><\/a>, a staple in the community for over 10 years, with a menu boasting over 32 roasts and a variety of delicious food items.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grab a Bite to Eat<\/span><\/h2>\n

If you\u2019re just passing through this historic district, there are a plethora of delectable restaurants for you to chow down at. <\/span>If you\u2019re looking to celebrate a special occasion or want to enjoy a fancier dinner on a Friday night, we recommend the farm-to-fork spot, <\/span>Bael<\/span>a Rose<\/span><\/a>. They offer delicious, locally curated cuisine served in a stunning dining room.<\/span><\/p>\n

Or, for something in between, head to <\/span>Pitch Pizzeria<\/span><\/a>, one of the most popular spots in Omaha. They boast a classy, rustic ambiance and delicious coal-fired pizza. While this buzzing restaurant is almost always busy (we highly recommend <\/span>making a reservation<\/span><\/a>), we promise it\u2019s worth the wait. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Or Take a Food Tour <\/span><\/h2>\n

If you\u2019ll only be in the area for a few hours or just want to see the neighborhood in a new light, take a food tour! <\/span>The Nebraska Tour Company<\/span><\/a> offers a <\/span>Dundee Walking Food Tour<\/span><\/a> for $49 per person. The entire tour takes three hours and will allow you to taste some of the area\u2019s most popular restaurants and learn a brief history of Dundee\u2019s vibrant past while you travel from one location to another. And if you find yourself especially interested in the area\u2019s history, the Nebraska Tour Company has a <\/span>walking tour for that too<\/span><\/a>! <\/span><\/p>\n

Relax With a Glass of Wine at <\/span>Dundee Cork and Bottle<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

We love a good outdoor patio to enjoy during a warm summer evening. Pay a visit to Dundee Cork and Bottle, a small and cozy wine bar in the heart of Dundee, and order a glass from their extensive wine list. Not only is the setting beautiful and the staff super helpful, but you can also get a bottle of wine at half price after 9:30 p.m. <\/span><\/p>\n

See a Movie at the <\/span>Dundee Theater<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

The classic outing of dinner and a movie is one of the best ways to spend a summer evening. But why not change it up a little and support a nonprofit while you\u2019re at it? The Dundee Theater is our town\u2019s longest surviving neighborhood cinema, and while they only have two screens, you can still go see some of the most popular movies out today along with some smaller, independent films. Plus, every ticket sold goes to support <\/span>Film Streams<\/span><\/a> \u2014 a small nonprofit that helps enhance the cultural environment in Omaha.<\/span><\/p>\n

Go Shopping<\/span><\/h2>\n

Dundee is one of the best neighborhoods in the Omaha area for shopping. We love exploring the quaint, tree-lined streets and stopping in some incredible boutiques. One of our favorites is <\/span>Scout Dry Goods<\/span><\/a>. The eclectic shop buys its products directly from you. Then, they take your old items, including clothes, furniture and accessories, and resell or repurpose them \u2014 saving them from the landfill. <\/span><\/p>\n

We also love <\/span>Hello Holiday<\/span><\/a>, a fashionable boutique that promotes the work of independent designers, artists and actives from all around the Midwest. All of the clothes in Hello Holiday are vintage inspired and go up to size 3X! They also have a massive <\/span>online store<\/span><\/a>, so you can peruse their stock even if you aren\u2019t in the Dundee area. <\/span><\/p>\n
