Dodge, who resided in this historic landmark. His primary achievement is being considered \u201cthe greatest railroad builder of all time\u201d, but General Dodge has a diverse list of accolades as a Civil War veteran who was involved in the political, financial and military affairs of the United States. You can visit his gorgeous Victorian home, which he built in 1869 with a mere $35,000, Tuesday through Saturday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. or Sundays from 1\u20135 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">12:00 p.m. \u2014 Grab Lunch at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/bucksnortcb\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/bucksnortcb\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1564262760835000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGvgl9IY6aP0nvDmFOhyA0zfdkISw\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Buck Snort Restaurant and Sports Bar<\/a><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">After all of this excitement, you\u2019ll definitely need to recharge in the middle of the day. While you can\u2019t go wrong with any of the eateries in Downtown Council Bluffs, we think the Buck Snort Restaurant and Sports Bar is the perfect spot to relax and grab some grub (and a cold pint).\u00a0 The Buck Snort is a newer addition to the Council Bluffs sports bar scene, having opened their doors in 2016. It is located in the unique Beaux Arts-style building that formerly housed the Carnegie Library, the city\u2019s first free public library. The gorgeous museum is a must-visit destination for railroad fans around the country, offering fascinating exhibits on the Union Pacific Railroad (you\u2019ll even be able to spot a few artifacts from NP Dodge\u2019s founding fathers!). You may not want to stock up on groceries for the entire week while you\u2019re there, but perusing the booths of local produce, warm pastries, colorful flowers and handcrafted trinkets is one of our favorite\u00a0afternoon\u00a0activities. There are markets going on all around town this season, but we recommend\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FarmersMarketCB\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FarmersMarketCB\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1564262760835000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFqBz1iqo2l-_zIYPPEkfEawOOpfA\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Farmers Market Council Bluffs<\/a>\u00a0held in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/baylisswest\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/baylisswest\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1564262760835000&amp;usg=AFQjCNE1qZBQrq3c5lA8KB0VJ49Jqll3Yw\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bayliss Park<\/a>\u00a0which pops up every Thursday in May through September offering fresh, local goods and live music.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>5 p.m.\u00a0\u2014 Wander Around\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/baylisswest\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/baylisswest\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1564262760835000&amp;usg=AFQjCNE1qZBQrq3c5lA8KB0VJ49Jqll3Yw\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bayliss Park<\/a><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">After you\u2019ve gotten your fill at the farmers\u2019 market, take an hour to wander through one of our favorite parks in the city. Bayliss Park is a sculpture paradise, featuring a fountain, performance space, veterans memorials, a plaza, an interactive water feature and other touchable art. The park was recently remodeled and crafted with its viewers in mind. In addition to serving delicious pizzas and calzones, Pizza King has one of the most comprehensive, upscale menus we\u2019ve ever seen. They have some of the best classic steaks in town\u2014including a New York Strip Sirloin, Filet Mignon, Ribeye and more\u2014alongside more creative choices like Veal Parmesan and a Fried Catfish Filet. Just don\u2019t forget to save some room for dessert at our next stop!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">7:30 p.m. \u2014 Scream For Ice Cream and Then Get Some at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christycreme.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.christycreme.com\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1564262760835000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGZdSemuNaBH-XLWydk6am5FNGRxg\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Christy Creme<\/a><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We couldn\u2019t make this itinerary without including at least one of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npdodge.com\/blog\/2016\/07\/the-best-local-ice-cream-shops-in-omaha-and-council-bluffs\/?utm_source=Blog&amp;utm_medium=Post&amp;utm_campaign=Internal\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.npdodge.com\/blog\/2016\/07\/the-best-local-ice-cream-shops-in-omaha-and-council-bluffs\/?utm_source%3DBlog%26utm_medium%3DPost%26utm_campaign%3DInternal&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1564262760835000&amp;usg=AFQjCNG09AgpJQgOdoxtgyXn3nHQ0U9R-g\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">incredible ice cream shops<\/a> in the Council Bluffs area! Original owners, Art and Jeanne opened Christy Creme in their front yard in 1954. Throughout its history, the shop has changed hands, but stayed in the family\u2014one of the owners even became mayor of Council Bluffs! While they do serve food, the stars of the show are their desserts.
