Perusing all of Omaha’s fantastic farmers markets is one of our favorite summer pastimes. But things are going to look a little different this year\u2014at least for the time being.<\/p>\n

While farmers markets are deemed an essential business and can open for the 2020 season, a lot of changes, including pre-orders and pickups, social distancing guidelines, and restrictions on prepared foods will be in effect to keep farmers, vendors and customers safe.<\/p>\n

We’ve rounded up all the markets in the Omaha area that plan to be open for the 2020 season, along with information on how they are responding to the pandemic. So if you’re on the hunt for some fresh produce, locally made products and artisan goods\u2014we’ve got you covered!<\/p>\n

Papillion Farmers Market<\/a><\/h2>\n

May 20 – August 12 (No Market on June, 17th) | Every Wednesday, 5:30-8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

The Papillion Farmers Market at City Park at the corner of Washington Street and Lincoln Road is a Papillion<\/a> tradition every summer. This year, in order to prevent the further spread of COVID-19, they are putting forth a non-traditional drive-through plan where you’ll drive through and pick up your produce, meat, dairy and artisan goods from the comfort and safety of your car!\u00a0 Visit Papillion’s website<\/a> for a full list of vendors and a handy drive-thru map that will help direct you through the market.<\/p>\n

Farmers Market Council Bluffs<\/a><\/h2>\n

Starting June 11 | Every Thursday, 4:30-7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

The Farmers Market\u00a0Council Bluffs<\/a>\u00a0pops up in Bayliss Park every Thursday evening between May and September. This lively summertime community tradition features fresh produce, baked goods and talented artists. It is a wonderful place to wind down at the end of the day, grab some last-minute farm-fresh ingredients for dinner, and support local businesses all the while. They have not announced their COVID-19 policies yet, but you can follow the 712 Initiative on Facebook<\/a> for updates.<\/p>\n

Bellevue Farmers Market<\/a><\/h2>\n

June 13 – October 3rd | Every Saturday, 8 a.m.-12 p.m.<\/p>\n

This volunteer-run market takes place at Washington Park every Saturday, rain or shine. If you’d like to make a shopping list before you go, take a look at their vendors<\/a> before each week\u2019s market to know who you\u2019ll be shopping from. But no matter who is there, you\u2019ll have plenty of fresh produce, baked goods, bread, crafts, furniture, jewelry, and more to choose from. As a response to the pandemic, they are changing their traffic patterns and arranging for many of their vendors to accept pre-orders.<\/p>\n

Omaha Farmers Market at the Old Market<\/a><\/h2>\n

June 6 – Mid October | Every Saturday, 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Perhaps one of the more well-known markets in the area, the Omaha Farmers Market at the Old Market<\/a> is a sight worth seeing and a community worth immersing yourself in every Saturday during the summer. In fact, the Omaha Farmers Market is considered the best farmers market in all of Nebraska. This year, they are planning on offering produce, herbs, vegetable starter plants, meat, dairy and eggs, bread and a variety of artisanal prepared products that are pre-packaged. They are also reopening the market for crafts and other handmade items. The market asks that you keep a respectful distance from others at the market and to not socialize in between shopping. Many vendors are allowing you to pre-order items online so you can just drop in and pick them up. Village Pointe Farmers Market<\/a><\/h2>\n

Pick up local food from Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota farmers at Village Pointe Farmers Market located on the south side of Village Pointe Shopping Center! The most notable feature of this market is that it is the only farmers market in Omaha that requires GMO labeling. This year, they are taking precautions to keep both you and their vendors healthy. Visit their Facebook page<\/a> to stay updated on any policy changes and current market offerings.<\/p>\n

Omaha Farmers Market at Askarben Village<\/a><\/h2>\n

June 7 – Mid October | Every Sunday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.<\/p>\n

If you accidentally sleep through the market on Saturday in the Old Market, you\u2019ll get a second chance at produce purchasing at Omaha Farmers Market at Baxter Arena every Sunday! Their health and safety regulations are pretty much the same as the Old Market market\u2014they ask that you try not to congregate, to wear a mask, always wash products before consuming them, and to not come to the market if you are sick.\u00a0The first hour of the market,\u00a09-10 a.m. is intended\u00a0specifically for seniors, people with underlying health conditions, and expectant mothers.
