Even so, Council Bluffs<\/a> is home to so many incredible restaurants, boutiques and entertainment options\u2014just imagine the convenience of being within walking distance to all of them! If you\u2019re looking for a new home in the area, walkability and access are definitely some factors to consider.<\/p>\n

To give you a good starting point, we rounded up a few of our favorite walkable Council Bluffs neighborhoods, which means that they offer easy access to desirable amenities and community gathering places.<\/p>\n

Nestled in the heart of Council Bluffs, downtown is a coveted neighborhood for many in the area. This beloved neighborhood is packed full of things to do, so you really don’t even need a car to get to the best the city has to offer! Enjoy museums, restaurants, parks\u2014including Bayliss Park, which hosts a spectacular farmers’ market<\/a> on Thursdays\u2014and other fun events throughout the year. Residents often boast about the family-oriented amenities, walkability, dog-friendly businesses, tree-lined streets and more.<\/p>\n

Located at the base of the Loess Hills, Gibraltar is one of the area’s oldest neighborhoods. Architecture buffs will love exploring the quiet neighborhood streets that are lined with interesting homes in a variety of architectural styles. And history lovers will also enjoy perusing the area as many of the homes and businesses located in Gibraltar are at least 50 years old. And that’s not all! While this area is close to all the action, it also feels away from it all, surrounded by tons of trees and quiet serenity.<\/p>\n

Kanesville-Tinley offers a classic community feel with several neighborhood events, a Neighborhood Watch program and so much more. And with the fantastic location near downtown, it’s only a short jaunt to world-class entertainment, great food and fun outdoor amenities.<\/p>\n

Lincoln-Fairview<\/h2>\n

Council Bluffs’ best-kept secret, the Lincoln-Fairview neighborhood is one of our favorites. Perched above the rest of the city on the top of CB’s iconic hills, this area provides a spectacular dose of history along with views of Council Bluffs and the Omaha skyline. While there aren’t a ton of shops and restaurants located within the neighborhood (although it\u2019s a very short walk away from downtown), the wide range of Italianate, Victorian, Richard-\u2028sonian Romanesque, Queen Anne, Greek Revival, Foursquare and Craftsmen\u2014you name it; it’s here. In fact, that the Lincoln-Fairview neighborhood is even on the National Historic Register.<\/p>\n

Old Town Council Bluffs<\/h2>\n

This neighborhood was established in the 1850s and encompasses the area between West Broadway and Glen Avenue and East Broadway and Frank Street. Stepping into this neighborhood is a little like stepping back in time, with historic buildings and shops lining the streets. And while it may be called Old Town, nothing about the hip restaurants, bars and attractions feels old. Instead, this area is packed full of fun things to do and explore. And because everything in this neighborhood is centered around West Broadway, nothing is too far away.<\/p>\n

The West End<\/h2>\n

On the other side of West Broadway, you’ll find a quaint neighborhood called The West End. If you think it looks familiar, you’ve probably seen the area as the setting of famous Alexander Payne movies Citizen Ruth and About Schmidt. Just like many of the others on this list, this large neighborhood is packed full of history and iconic attractions. Because it’s located near the water, there are plenty of parks and other outdoor amenities to explore. And the neighborhood also happens to encompass the Union Pacific Transfer railyards, meaning that you’ll find yourself face-to-face with many famous railroad landmarks like the Golden Spike Monument and the Illinois Central Railroad Missouri River bridge.<\/p>\n
