Maybe you\u2019ve visited Papillion<\/a> before, have just passed through, or are lucky enough to call it your hometown. Regardless of your relationship with this railroad town<\/a>, we\u2019re sure you can agree that it is something special.
\nYou may not know it, but its name is derived from Papillion Creek<\/a> that runs through the town, which was named from the French word for butterfly. According to stories passed down, early French explorers named the creek as such because of the abundance of butterflies found alongside its banks.
\nNow, why are we talking about butterflies and the origins of a neighboring community? We\u2019re so glad you asked. Because\u2026<\/p>\n

Papillion is the Community of the Month for January!<\/b><\/h2>\n


\n\"Papillion,<\/a>
\nWe will be focusing on one particular community each month over the course of this year on our blog. Hopefully, this series will ignite a new love for some unexplored places, or confirm the reasons why you already love an area.
\nSo travel with us to the beautiful town of Papillion \u2014 or endearingly referred to as \u201cPapio\u201d by its residents \u2014 for a quick tour.
\nWith a population just over 19,000, Papillion has been nationally recognized as the #2 best small city in America<\/a>\u00a0for its livability, affordability, educational system and environment for raising a family.
\nThere are several areas of lush, green grass spread out throughout Papillion, such as Walnut Creek Lake and Recreation Area<\/a> where you can go fishing, boating, hiking, biking, picnicking and camping. There\u2019s also the centrally located, 70-acre Halleck Park<\/a> that hosts walking trails, athletic fields and courts, playgrounds, shelters and a large pavilion. This truly is the \u201cCentral Park\u201d of this town.

\nNestled amongst these parks \u2014 and various others<\/a> \u2014 is a thriving residential community<\/a>. Homes vary from traditional to new-construction, and each provides a wonderful environment for raising a family. In fact, we recently peeked inside a Papillion home<\/a> and liked it so much that we decided to steal their look!
\nSpeaking of home, Papillion\u2019s Werner Park<\/a> is now home to the Triple A Omaha Storm Chasers<\/a>. It is here that you can take in all the sights, sounds and emotions of a live baseball game right in your backyard.

\nOr become part of the action by playing a round of golf at Eagle Hills and Tara Hills Golf Courses<\/a>, which are both 18-hole championship-rated facilities.
\nStroll through the shopping metropolis that is Shadow Lake Towne Center<\/a> or venture to some local shops, such as Absolutely Her<\/a>, an upscale consignment boutique.
\nAfter all the shopping, you\u2019re bound to work up an appetite. If that\u2019s the case, grab a bite at SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza<\/a> or wind down with a beer or cocktail at Nebraska Brewing Company<\/a>.
