This won\u2019t be the first time <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npdodge.com\/blog\/2015\/11\/transformationtuesday-from-dark-and-traditional-to-bright-and-modern\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">we\u2019ve stepped inside the home of a local interior designer<\/a> during our #TransformationTuesday series.<\/p>\n<p>So let\u2019s take a look at the home of local resident Jenny Gilbreath, interior designer of <a href=\"http:\/\/jennygilbreath.houzz.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JG Interiors<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While Jenny Gilbreath has many incredible <a href=\"http:\/\/jennygilbreath.houzz.com\/projects\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interior design projects<\/a> to choose from, this one is our favorite because it showcases her minimal and clean style in its most raw form. This is <em>her<\/em> home, which means she can execute her own plan and implement any design elements she chooses. And we think she did an amazing job!<\/p>\n<p>You could even consider this renovation Jenny\u2019s inauguration into her design career, as this project really kick-started her love for design and the realization that she could turn this into an official business.<\/p>\n<p>The Gilbreath\u2019s 1914 home in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npdodge.com\/dundee-memorial-real-estate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dundee<\/a> had a lot of character and vintage details, but not all of those details are ones you\u2019d necessarily want in a home. In particular, the home lacked an open-concept space to adequately hold Jenny\u2019s family of six \u2014\u00a0and they were running out of space! Renovation was the only solution because they loved their location in Dundee and knew their home had some serious potential.<\/p>\n<p>An open concept is nearly unheard of in an older home, but it has become increasingly important in new construction and renovation projects over the years. That\u2019s why Jenny decided to remove the wall between the dining room and the small galley kitchen.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, a lot of the features of the kitchen needed some help\u00a0as well. Most of the original craftsman elements of the space were gone and had been replaced with square tile backsplash, laminate countertops, composite cabinets and a ceiling lowered about 18 inches. So there wasn\u2019t much \u201crestoration\u201d Jenny hoped to maintain, as the kitchen had already transitioned from its roots.<\/p>\n<p>Once Jenny got her hands on this space, she was able to bring a whole new life to this outdated kitchen. They added trim and cabinetry built in a craftsman, shaker style to honor the original style of the house. Her overall design in the space was quite neutral and transitional, which allowed Jenny to bring some of her favorite elements into play, including a few bold colors, the white farmhouse sink, Moroccan tile backsplash, pot filler faucets, clean white countertops, and the robin egg blue peninsula. We adore the bright orange stools that add an intense pop of bright color in the otherwise neutral backdrop.<\/p>\n<p>What do you think of this kitchen renovation?
