Back to School Events in the Omaha Area<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With the first day of school quickly approaching, parents may be getting stressed about ensuring their children have everything they need for a successful year. These school supply drives and neighborhood events are a great way to donate or receive necessary supplies for the upcoming academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back to School Party at Montclair<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Where?<\/strong> 2304 South 135th Avenue<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Montclair Community Center is hosting a back-to-school event on August 10th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Children will love the bounce houses, activities, and crafts. There will be plenty of food for attendees as well! This is a great way to shake off the stress of back-to-school shopping and any first-day jitters your student may be experiencing. If you enjoy the Back to School Party at Montclair, check out other monthly events at the community center! Youth gym programs begin on August 8th and run on weekdays from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM. The gym is open to grades 3 through 8 only and all children must have a household account in the Montclair system with their parental contact info in case of emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JCPenney Kids Zone: Color Your Own Pencil Pouch<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Select JCPenney locations host a kid’s zone activity on the 2nd Saturday of the month. In August, the activity is a color-your-own pencil pouch craft to celebrate back to school. Kids get free crafts and parents get an extra 10% savings \u2014 what’s not to love about that? Participants will receive a craft, an ID badge, a lanyard, and a collector’s pin each month. After completing six crafts, the child is eligible for a craft medallion! For August’s pencil pouch activity, children will receive the pouch, a stencil, a notebook, and markers. If your child is nervous about heading back into the classroom, send them in with a super cool DIY pencil bag that they can show off to their new friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back to School Biscuit Baking<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Where?<\/strong> 400 Willow Avenue<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 26th, the Council Bluffs Public Library is hosting a back-to-school event where participants can ease the stress of going back to school with a buttery, delicious, homemade baked goods. The event is scheduled for 2:00 PM to 4:45 PM and is designed for grades 6 through 12. The program is a drop-in event, so there’s no pre-registration required. All supplies for biscuit baking will be provided and no experience is necessary! In fact, if you’ve never baked a biscuit before \u2014 prepare to be amazed at how easy the process is and how delicious the final result ends up being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SHARE Omaha School Supply Drive 2024<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Where?<\/strong> Various Locations<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From July 1st through August 15th, SHARE Omaha is excited to partner with 18 local area nonprofits to encourage donations for school supplies throughout the greater metro region. With a goal of supporting 6,500 students, this is no small feat! The initiative is supported by Wells Fargo and will distribute items to local learners in need through the participating nonprofits, which include Open Door Mission, Guiding Light Foundation, Completely KIDS, and Boys Town. Items requested include backpacks, notebooks, markers, crayons, glue, erasers, and kid-safe scissors. If you’re in a position to donate items or funds, your help is greatly appreciated. If you need to contact one of these resources for help getting your child ready for school, just remember that your community is here to help!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salvation Army Backpack Drive<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This year, Westroads Mall is again hosting the annual Salvation Army Backpack Drive. Swing by on August 10th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM or while supplies last. The drive-through distribution system is designed to provide efficiency for families and will take place in the mall’s northeast parking lot, located near JCPenney’s. Make sure to arrive early to ensure supplies are available!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
