From the annual Quilt Show to Summerfest at River\u2019s Edge and exciting First Friday events throughout the metro area, June is gearing up to be a great time to be in town. Where?<\/strong> Scott Conference Center, 6450 Pine Street<\/a> Join the Omaha Quilters\u2019 Guild for the 47th Annual Quilt Show this June! This year\u2019s show will be held in the Scott Conference Center in Omaha\u2019s Aksarben Village. The theme, \u201cReflecting on the Past 50 Years,\u201d celebrates the guild\u2019s 50th anniversary. The show will feature approximately 150 quilts ranging from miniatures to large bed quilts in a variety of styles and patterns, from traditional to modern. Attendees will see the results of the judged competition, quilts made by junior quilters, quilts made from OQG workshops and quilts made for this year\u2019s challenge, with specific size and fabric requirements. In addition, 17 vendors will be at the show with products for quilters and non quilters alike as well as a mercantile offering items for sale. Whether you\u2019re drawn to admire and collect quilts or you enjoy the design and construction of the quilt itself, the OQG Quilt Show welcomes you. Free parking is available directly across the street. Show hours range daily, kicking things off from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 4th and wrapping up from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 6th. This is a free and family-friendly event that\u2019s taking place from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Tom Hanafan River\u2019s Edge Park, featuring an epic drone show, live music, interactive activities and something for every age! Organizers expect thousands of attendees, making this a can\u2019t-miss event kicking off summer in nearby Council Bluffs. The drone show will begin at dark (around 9:30 PM) as the sky glows with 300 drones for a 20-minute display. Summerfest will also feature a foam party! Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, and even their pups. Summerfest will additionally feature a summer market with 20 local vendors, as well as a mobile exhibit from Kiewit Luminaries. In the case of inclement weather, Summerfest will be moved to Saturday, June 6th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Where?<\/strong> The Old Market, Harney to Jackson Streets & 10th to 13th Streets<\/a> Join fellow art aficionados in Downtown Omaha for the monthly first Friday art walk. The walk is organized from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with gallery hours varying by location. This is a self-guided tour that\u2019s meant to showcase local and regional talent, from contemporary pieces to fine art and sculptures. Each participating gallery has something unique to offer, so swing by and say hello. On these First Fridays, there are typically extended hours and opportunities to meet the artists themselves and explore exhibitions in the heart of Omaha\u2019s historic and creative core in Old Town. Participating galleries in June include the Artists\u2019 Cooperative Gallery, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Garden of the Zodiac, KANEKO and more.
