Mention the word Rockbrook to most Omahans and they immediately think of the unique shopping center located at 108th and West Center Road.   Known as Rockbrook Village, it was a major attraction and a magnet for families building new homes in the area when it was constructed in the 1960’s.

The majority of these homes are still standing today, surrounded by mature trees and well manicured lawns which promote a quiet setting for all who live in the area.  Their styles vary—ranches, splits, two stories--and many have been remodeled to provide more amenities, making them very attractive for the resale market.  Larger, older homes with more diverse architecture are found on the community’s northern area, which is sometimes referred to as Old Rockbrook.  Set on curvilinear streets with angular lots, they also have strong resale value.

Rockbrook Village has remained a very popular retail center and is noted for its specialty shops, most  of which are locally owned.  It’s a place you can drop off your pet for grooming, shop for a special gift for your best friend’s birthday, grab a bite of lunch, select your favorite breads, wine and cheese for dinner, then pick up your pet without moving your car.  Personal service and convenient front door parking attract patrons from all over the city.

Shopping is not Rockbrook Village’s only attraction.  It’s noted for its annual Art Fair which draws over 150 artists from all over the country and for its summer, Friday night concerts in its open air plaza.  Most holidays are celebrated with family activities, and the Rockbrook Merchants cooperate throughout the year with special events through their Association.

As a part of District 66, schools serving the Rockbrook community are highly rated.  Three elementary schools  (Rockbrook, Oakdale and Paddock Road) are found within its boundaries, and Westside Middle School and Westside High School are a short drive away.  Churches of many denominations, as well as several parochial schools are found near or within the area.  And with its proximity to the Interstate system, a commute to almost any part of the city for employment and recreation is very manageable.
