LaVista is a suburb of Omaha that was incorporated in 1960, the most recent city in the state of Nebraska to do so. With a current population of over 16,000 it has shown tremendous growth in home construction, educational and recreational facilities and commerce and industry, much of it within the last fifteen years.
In LaVista’s early years it was the site of smaller homes and several strip centers, a popular location for families purchasing their first homes. In the 1990’s service and light industries constructed facilities in an industrial park, providing well paying jobs. That growth continues and provides incentives for construction of larger homes.
