Area Information
Olde Towne BellevueOlde Towne is an area of Bellevue which reflects its name. Located in the eastern part of Sarpy County, it is the site for the early settlement’s activities and commerce and prides itself for its history and old-fashioned, friendly service. With small, unique shops and services, it attracts locals and tourists who are looking for special gifts and “antique finds” as well as flowers, bridal wear, jewelry, clothing, skates and cycles. It is also home to a diner, coffee shop, bakery, fine dining restaurant, and several icecream parlors. Every Saturday morning in the summer there is a Farmers’ Market in Washington Park. It features a flea market, fresh produce, baked goods and crafts. A popular draw for this event is live music. Many attendees bring lawn chairs, listen to music, and enjoy being outside while meeting friendly people. The Olde Towne area is also home to the Bellevue Little Theatre, a community theater known for its expertise in showcasing plays of all genres. In Olde Towne there are numerous historical sites and museums. Since the area was one of the first settlements in Nebraska, the original cemetery contains the remains of many of the first families to settle in the area. There is also the Fontenelle Bank Building, constructed in1856, a log cabin built in 1830, the 1 st Presbyterian Church, the oldest church in Nebraska, and a railroad depot. All of these sites can be visited with scheduled appointments made through the Sarpy County Historical Museum, which is also located in Olde Towne.
