The folks at Bellevue Berry Farm & Pumpkin Ranch know how to have a good time! They’ve been hosting their annual Midwest Pirate Fest for eight years now, and this year they’re adding a new family-friendly bash to the mix! The weekend before the Pirate Fest you can bring the whole family to the ranch for the inaugural Wild Wild West Fest, featuring live music, performances, food, drinks and tons of activities for the kids.
As a celebration of old time cowboys and Victorian expressionism, this old frontier town will come alive with performances and reenactments of a time long ago. These folks don’t mess around, so you’ll actually feel like you’ve been taken back in time! You’ll be able to watch performances and live music, eat the best BBQ, all while perusing the “peddlers” selling everything from homemade soap, pottery and snake oil! You never know, you may even meet some fur traders from up north, just a passin’ through!
Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children, but if you want to score a pair of FREE tickets they’re giving them away once they reach 200 likes on their new Facebook page. (Hey, it’s worth a shot, rough riders!)
For a quick set and century change, the Midwest Pirate Fest is the following weekend and will incorporate a pirate ship, an enchanted forest, live music, performances and the best grub a pirate could ever ask for! They’ll be an inflatable pirate boat for the kids, hand-on games, a treasure hunt, and learning demonstrations for the whole family.
Arrrrrgh you looking for more, mate? The sea-side marketplace and artisan exhibits are sure to impress! No one should leave without browsing the shops and acquiring some new pirate swag!
Tickets for the Midwest Pirate Fest are $10 for adults and $7 for children.
Both the Wild Wild West Fest and the Midwest Pirate Fest are perfect for those that love an opportunity to get dressed up in a costume! They’re strongly encouraged, but certainly not required. However, you’ll definitely have more fun if you dress up! In fact, Captain Raven O’Malley has perfectly outlined how to create an easy pirate costume on their Facebook page. (She’s a pirate, so she knows what she’s talking about.) If you don’t have the time to put something together, they’ll be vendors at both events with gear and accessories to help you blend in.
