Get Inspired By These Breathtaking Backyard Design Looks

Now that spring has officially arrived, we naturally start to spend a little more time outdoors. It may look like a Sunday afternoon hike on the Platte River State Park Trail, a meal with friends on an outdoor patio at a local restaurant, or a quiet morning enjoying the warm sunbeams with a cup of coffee on your front porch.

Sometimes one of the best places to enjoy sunny springtime weather is from the comfort of your own backyard. This gives you the freedom to go barefoot, the ability to travel only a few feet to arrive at your destination, and the chance to enjoy the landscape you invest time and money into maintaining.

If you find yourself a little less than proud of your backyard design or overall maintenance — or lack thereof — let’s change that this spring! It’s time to give a little TLC to our backyards, either with simple changes or massive redesigns. This has the added benefit of increasing your property value, which will come in handy once you’re ready to sell your home.

A change of design — inside or outside the home — usually starts with a little inspiration and set of ideas to get us going. This helps us imagine the possibilities, see what design trends are in style, and possibly implement some of these looks into our own landscape. This is probably why we scroll through Pinterest, subscribe to home design magazines, and watch hours of HGTV.

So let’s start off this spring season with some inspirational backyard design looks, from landscaping to stonework to furniture ideas to patio designs. Be inspired by these looks, and let us know which one you like the most!

We love the lush landscaping of this backyard, the bright pops of color added with various outdoor accessories, and the overall clean look of this area. There are a lot of fun pieces that add interest, but not too much clutter that would overwhelm the eye or look messy.

This looks like quite the serene and peaceful landscape, perfect for the spring and especially the summer. Imagine relaxing in the shade with a book and glass of iced tea, then diving into the pool and drying off under the sun in one of those poolside lounge chairs!

We love this clean and minimal backyard, for its modern look, low maintenance quality and functionality. Not to mention, concrete is a very affordable building material in the stone world. And that fireplace really brings warmth and comfort to this look!

City living, which usually means limited yard space, doesn’t mean your backyard needs to suffer aesthetically. Take advantage of every square inch by creating a functional and cozy backyard seating and hangout area.

We are also quite fond of this whimsical garden oasis. The gazebo structure provides a little shelter from the harsh sun and the fountain adds both a visual and aural sense of peace.

You don’t necessarily have to avoid landscaping if you have a narrow space to deal with. This particular backyard takes advantage of the space by planting large, dramatic plants alongside the fence and the house. The clean, well-kept pathway and the scattered seating options throughout the space really pull this look together.

Once again, it’s possible to work with smaller square footage and still emerge with an awesome entertainment space in your backyard. We especially love the vintage stone wall structure juxtaposed with some of the more modern details in this space.

We adore the simple, gorgeous and desert-themed landscaping of this backyard area! Furthermore, the entertainment options are endless in this space, because of the built-in grill, the vast counter space for a buffet or drink bar, and more.

This homeowner borrowed some adorable accessories from inside their home to add some life to their outdoor area. We love the comfortable seating area, opulent fireplac, and the fun and eclectic pieces.

In which of these backyards would you like to sip your morning coffee?
