Celebrate the summer season in Omaha with a busy June! From the annual Quilt Show to Summerfest at River’s Edge and exciting First Friday events throughout the metro area, June is gearing up to be a great time to be in town. Sports fans will be descending from across the country for the NCAA Men’s College World Series and theatre lovers won’t want to miss Wicked at the iconic Orpheum Theatre. 

Omaha Quilters’ Guild Quilt Show

Where? Scott Conference Center, 6450 Pine Street
When? June 4th-6th

Join the Omaha Quilters’ Guild for the 47th Annual Quilt Show this June! This year’s show will be held in the Scott Conference Center in Omaha’s Aksarben Village. The theme, “Reflecting on the Past 50 Years,” celebrates the guild’s 50th anniversary. The show will feature approximately 150 quilts ranging from miniatures to large bed quilts in a variety of styles and patterns, from traditional to modern. Attendees will see the results of the judged competition, quilts made by junior quilters, quilts made from OQG workshops and quilts made for this year’s challenge, with specific size and fabric requirements. In addition, 17 vendors will be at the show with products for quilters and non quilters alike as well as a mercantile offering items for sale. Whether you’re drawn to admire and collect quilts or you enjoy the design and construction of the quilt itself, the OQG Quilt Show welcomes you. Free parking is available directly across the street. Show hours range daily, kicking things off from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 4th and wrapping up from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 6th. Admission is priced at $11 for a single day or $16 for multiple days. Seniors receive a $10 rate and children can attend for just $4!  Mention the promo code: “Reflections” to receive a $1 discount on your admission.  (Only one discount per person per day.)

Summerfest at River’s Edge + Drone Show

Where? Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park, 4200 Avenue B
When? June 5th

Summerfest 2026 will be held on the first Friday in June! This is a free and family-friendly event that’s taking place from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park, featuring an epic drone show, live music, interactive activities and something for every age! Organizers expect thousands of attendees, making this a can’t-miss event kicking off summer in nearby Council Bluffs. The drone show will begin at dark (around 9:30 PM) as the sky glows with 300 drones for a 20-minute display. Summerfest will also feature a foam party! Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, and even their pups. Summerfest will additionally feature a summer market with 20 local vendors, as well as a mobile exhibit from Kiewit Luminaries. In the case of inclement weather, Summerfest will be moved to Saturday, June 6th.

First Friday Downtown Omaha Art Walk

Where? The Old Market, Harney to Jackson Streets & 10th to 13th Streets
When? June 5th

Join fellow art aficionados in Downtown Omaha for the monthly first Friday art walk. The walk is organized from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with gallery hours varying by location. This is a self-guided tour that’s meant to showcase local and regional talent, from contemporary pieces to fine art and sculptures. Each participating gallery has something unique to offer, so swing by and say hello. On these First Fridays, there are typically extended hours and opportunities to meet the artists themselves and explore exhibitions in the heart of Omaha’s historic and creative core in Old Town. Participating galleries in June include the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Garden of the Zodiac, KANEKO and more. Even if you just consider yourself a casual observer of the arts, everyone is welcome! First Friday Art Walks are a great way to enjoy an evening out. Bring a friend or two or make it a date with that special someone as you stroll hand in hand throughout Omaha.

Benson First Friday

First Fridays in Omaha’s Benson Creative District have been a recurring beloved neighborhood tradition for over 10 years! These events offer a year-round platform for artists, musicians and creative businesses to come together and share their work with the public. This monthly art walk has expanded into a district-wide collaboration, with many galleries, stores, bars and community spaces hosting their very own creative programming every month. Enjoy a summertime stroll with exciting vibes throughout the district. Stay up to date here to see who’s participating in June and to explore the map. You can download the latest First Friday map directly to your phone the night before or grab a printed copy at participating locations. Remember, First Fridays are never a one-size-fits-all event. Each month features something new, so arrive with an open mind and see where the walk takes you! The June edition of First Friday has organically grown into First Friday PRIDE, with an intentional focus on centering queer artists, performers and community voices. 

Ironman 70.3 Omaha

Where? Downtown Omaha
When? June 7th 

Ironman 70.3 is scheduled for the first Sunday in June and invites athletes to experience the Midwestern charm and the spirit of the Omaha community. Swim through the peaceful waters of Lake Cunningham, which will be open exclusively for this event. Athletes will ride through Nebraska’s open farmland and race across the iconic Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. The Ironman 70.3 will take participants across state lines into Iowa for a powerful symbol of Midwest unity. The course for this year’s race seamlessly blends natural beauty, urban charm and all things regional pride. Be a part of history as you participate in this Ironman event! Whether you’re from Omaha or you’re traveling in for this event, be sure to embrace the city and wind down with good food and even better people after you’ve crossed the finish line. The course will finish near the Missouri River in downtown Omaha. Want to watch athletes challenge themselves? The Ironman 70.3 kicks off with a 1.2-mile swim, followed by a 56-mile bike course and a 13.1 mile two-loop run.

Farnam Flow in Turner Park

Farnam Flow is a weekly outdoor yoga series, focusing on mind and body movement. Enjoy this free public class on Sundays through the end of June. Farnam Flow is scheduled for 4:00 PM in Turner Park, with each session being led by certified yoga instructors from Genesis Health Clubs. All skill levels are welcome, including beginners! Whether you’re meeting up with a friend for yoga or you’re looking to try something new, this is a great way to meet new people and enjoy the neighborhood afterwards. Enjoy a drink on the patio or catch up with familiar faces before dinner. There’s a Midtown Crossing restaurant to cater to every taste. Bring a water bottle and a mat or a blanket for the yoga class. No registration is required, so just show up and say hello! Driving? There’s a parking garage on 33rd Street between Dodge and Farnam. 

NCAA Men’s College World Series

Where? Charles Schwab Field, 1200 Mike Fahey Street
When? June 12th-June 22nd

You won’t want to miss out on what some are calling the “Greatest Show on Dirt!” More than 8 million fans have experienced the excitement over the years as the best of the best in college baseball battle it out to victory. Enjoy tailgating with fans from across the country and explore Omaha’s renowned attractions between games. Whether you call Omaha home or you’re traveling in for this June event, you’re sure to have a memorable time with thousands of fans as they descend upon Omaha to visit Charles Schwab Field and watch the NCAA Men’s College World Series. The field seats 24,000 and features a 360-degree walk-around concourse with plenty of prime views of the field. Game 1 is scheduled for June 12th at 1:00 PM. Omaha Freedom Festival

Where? Miller Park Pavilion, 2707 Redick Avenue 
When? June 13th

The Omaha Freedom Festival is a celebration of Juneteenth, which honors the emancipation of those enslaved in the United States. The festival is designed to educate, empower and entertain the community while also bringing awareness to local, social and business resources. There will be an array of family friendly activities from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, including a kids zone, local artists and musicians, food and beverage vendors and more. Children under 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Check out the activities guide here so you know what to expect! Bring your family and friends and enjoy an unforgettable evening in Omaha. Make sure to stick around to enjoy the concert at 8:30 PM, followed by an official fireworks show for the Omaha Freedom Festival at 10:30 PM at Gene Leahy Mall Pavilion. Look to the sky as the breathtaking fireworks display in the heart of downtown Omaha lights up the night. Daytime events are completely free with a “day pass,” in either digital or physical form.

Wicked

Where? Orpheum Theatre, 409 South 16th Street
When? June 17th-July 5th

Catch the untold true story of the Witches of Oz as Wicked comes to Omaha this summer. Omaha Performing Arts is excited to present this hit performance through early July. Long before Dorothy ever arrives in the Land of Oz, there’s another young woman with emerald-green skin and a misunderstood yet extraordinary talent. When the outcast meets the bubbly popular blonde, their initial rivalry turns into an unlikely friendship until the world deems one “good” and the other one “wicked.” Audiences are sure to be transfixed with this wildly inventive story. Wicked will be shown in the Orpheum Theatre and is recommended for ages 8+. Doors will open one hour before showtime and the musical has a runtime of 2 hours and 45 minutes with a 15-minute intermission. The first Saturday matinee performance of each Broadway show in the Orpheum Theatre is designated as ASL-interpreted and audio-described, with Wicked’s designated date being June 20th at 2:00 PM.

City of Omaha Celebrates America

Where? Memorial Park, 6005 Underwood Avenue 
When? June 26th

The City of Omaha can’t wait to celebrate America this June in Memorial Park with a concert and a fireworks show. This is a free community event and no tickets are needed. The fun kicks off at 6:30 PM with the national anthem and a welcome to visitors. At 6:45 PM, CAKE takes the stage, followed by Smokey Robinson at 8:30 PM. CAKE’s most recent album, Showroom of Compassion, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart. Headliner Smokey Robinson is an acclaimed singer-songwriter with a career spanning over four decades of hits. Fireworks will be immediately after the concert, typically around 10:00 PM, so be sure to stick around and look to the sky as the spectacular colors take over the nighttime. Throughout the day, local band videos will play on the big screens for added entertainment. Memorial Park will be opening at 5:00 AM on Friday for those wanting to reserve a good spot for the show.

Night Light: Groove After Dark

Where? Kiewit Luminarium, 345 Riverfront Drive
When? June 27th

Kiewit Luminarium is hosting Night Light: Groove After Dark this June. This is a 21+ adults-only Night Light where guests will explore the many ways to take inspiration from the freedom and collaboration of jazz. Rekindle your curiosity and grab a drink, mingle with other guests, and play with 125+ interactive exhibits. There will be hands-on activities in the Maker Space to indulge your mind across rotating program offerings. Tickets can be purchased at the door or reserved in advance. Find your groove at Night Light and move beyond the music and consider how the principles of improvisation can shape how people build community and show up every day in their relationships. Turn the pages on Omaha’s rich musical history all while writing a new chapter. Night Light is scheduled from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
