Things to Do for Father’s Day in the Omaha Area

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 19! It will be here before you know it.

We all know June is an exciting month in Omaha, largely in part to the national attention we receive during the Collegiate Baseball Championship at our very own TD Ameritrade Park. Take advantage of the many activities happening in the area centered around dads during Father’s Day weekend, which coincidentally coincides with the opening weekend of the event. What a combo!

Surprise dad with one of these activities or tell him in advance so the excitement can build! Whatever you do, celebrate dad this year in a fun and unique way.

Collegiate Baseball Championship

The Collegiate Baseball Championship opening day is Friday, June 17. This is a great way to kickstart Father’s Day weekend as a family, especially since there is a special family area just north of the CenturyLink Center. You’ll find an enormous 100-foot ferris wheel, face painting, and balloon animals for the kids. And for the adults, there will be plenty of food trucks, beer and wine for sale, and party bungalows available for rent.

Hop on Board the Omaha Brew Bus at the Collegiate Baseball Championship

If you are attending the Collegiate Baseball Championship on Father’s Day weekend without the kids in tow, might we suggest a ride on the Omaha Brew Bus? Because Omaha’s craft beer scene is on the rise, this is a great way to sample local brews as a couple — plus some friends, visiting family, or some friends-to-be.

The tours run between noon and 9 p.m. daily during the event, and tickets cost $40 per person. The Omaha Brew Bus will take you to three different Omaha breweries to sample their amazing craft brews, and you’ll receive a tour of at least one of the breweries.

Celebrate Father’s Day on the River City Star Father’s Day Cruise. This 1.5-hour cruise travels along the Missouri River, allowing passengers to enjoy scenic and breathtaking views of the river and surrounding landscape. There will be a special buffet provided, live entertainment, and beer and drink specials.

Complete a Virtual 5K in Honor of Dads

This virtual race is a unique way to celebrate fathers this year. Moon Joggers is hosting their third annual Father’s Day 5K virtual race to raise funds for Soles 4 Souls, an organization that provides shoes and clothing to people around the world.

You simply register the number of people participating and complete your 3.1-mile race any time during the month of June. You can choose your own course and you time yourself! The idea is to do something active, and to make a difference in the lives of the people Soles 4 Souls touches. You’ll even receive two medals — one to keep and one to give away to your favorite dad!

Take Dad Golfing

The abundance of local golf facilities and the beautiful summer weather make golfing the perfect activity to enjoy with dad this Father’s Day. Dust off your golf clubs and head to Bent Tree Golf Club or Fox Run Golf Club, both of which are located in Council Bluffs. Or schedule a tee time at Pacific Springs Golf Course in Omaha. Wherever you go, you’re sure to have a fun and relaxing time together.

ZOOm at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium

Fast cars, ferocious animals, and seeing his kids’ faces light up — these are all things most dads enjoy. Experience all three at ZOOm at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium this Father’s Day weekend. On Sunday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., you and the family can explore your favorite animal exhibits and learn about animal speeds.

Fast Action Motorsports Entertainment will be hosting a Racing Tournament and a Race Car Simulator, featuring games that are interactive, competitive, and family-friendly.

All of the ZOOm activities are free with regular paid admission and for zoo members!

Local Father’s Day Gift Idea

For Fathers Near…

Treat your dad or husband to a fancy steak dinner at one of our favorite steakhouses in Omaha. We can’t think of a better meal for a hungry man and we can’t think of a better city for indulging in steak. Enjoying a nice meal together is the perfect way to engage in meaningful conversation, where you can mention all the things you appreciate about him!

…And Fathers Far

If your dad doesn’t live in Omaha, send him some hometown flavor this Father’s Day with some steaks from Omaha Steaks. This is an extremely special and thoughtful way to gift him with an Omaha staple — even if he is miles away!
