Most dog owners will proudly tell you that their pup is like a member of their family and that there’s nothing better than coming home after a long day to a fur-filled snuggle session.
Because we love our dogs so doggone much, we enjoy spoiling them as much as possible. Luckily, Omaha is a dog-friendly city, with plenty of local businesses welcoming Fido with open arms (and a few hidden dog treats behind the counter)!
Take your pup out on the town by visiting any of these shops, pet-friendly restaurants, groomers, walkers, boarding facilities, parks and more!

Your dog deserves the best. That’s why the Green Spot only sells the healthiest organic pet foods on the market—and they don’t stop there! Even their large selection of toys, treats and supplies are natural and eco-friendly. So when you’re out with your four-legged friend, stop and enjoy a nice cup of coffee in their café lounge, or book an appointment for some pampering at their stress-free, full-service grooming center!
Long Dog Fat Cat
2501 South 90th Street | 2268, 16909 Burke Street | 3201 Farnam Street
Long Dog Fat Cat’s goal is to educate the Omaha community of pet parents about good animal nutrition. That’s why they sell locally made or honestly sourced treats, natural pet food and organic bakery items—all to help keep your pup healthy and happy. They have three locations around the Omaha area, but no matter which you visit, you’ll be able to work with a member of their knowledgeable staff to get your pup the right stuff!
Wag
Located right next door to Felius Cat Café, Wag is a local pet shop that offers natural food and treats, unique accessories, low-stress pet grooming and small group doggie daycare. They participate in events throughout the year to help advocate for animals and to better the pet community. Make sure to check out their calendar to see what events they have in store for this month!
Woof & Whiskers
Whether you’re in need of pet treats, food, supplies, toys or even a birthday cake for your pup, you can get it at Woof & Whiskers! This local pet supply store and groomer is located in West Omaha and offers everything from an afternoon of pampering to natural, healthy pet food. Plus, they have a pet bakery in-house, so you can get freshly baked goodies along with custom cakes and cookies made-to-order just for your dog.
Dog-Friendly Restaurants, Breweries + Cafés Around Town
Archetype Coffee
3926 Farnam St | 1419 S 13th St #101

Archetype is a leader in the Omaha coffee scene. They roast their coffee in house from beans grown by farmers they have personal relationships with. With a focus on the grower, they’re able to ensure their partners are successful, treated fairly and are producing top quality beans. Then, they roast high-quality, consistent beans for a great cup at home and in the cafe. Stop by for a beverage, learn about their farmers, and feel free to bring your dog because both locations—in The Blackstone District and in Little Bohemia—are dog-friendly!
Benson Brewery
Benson Brewery offers a warm atmosphere, trendy decor, delicious food and, of course, beautifully crafted beer. Their lovely beer garden is the perfect spot to hang out on a warm afternoon, and because the garden is dog-friendly (they even have a water station for dogs and offer dog treats made from spent grain leftover from brewing), your fluffy BFF can have a great time, too!
Dundee Cork & Bottle
The Cork & Bottle in Dundee has a little something for everyone, including a lovely outdoor patio to enjoy on a summer evening, an extensive wine list, and dog treats waiting behind the bar. Not only is the setting beautiful and the staff super dog-friendly, but you can also get a bottle of wine at half price after 9:30 p.m.
Dante Ristorante Pizzeria
Dante Ristorante provides a more upscale dining experience than your traditional pizza joint. In fact, it is unique in several different ways. Dante is Omaha’s first restaurant specializing in authentic wood-fired Neapolitan pizza and rustic Italian cuisine. Their menu features ingredient-driven dishes with fresh produce from local farmers, offering an authentic Italian experience for their hungry guests—and we mean all of their guests! Your canine best friend is welcome to enjoy Dante’s as well from the comfort of the outdoor patio.
Howlin’ Hounds Coffee
Many businesses in the Omaha area allow dogs, and some even encourage them. But not many take their love of dogs so far to include it in their business name. Howlin’ Hounds Coffee did, turning the old Diamond Bar into a caffeine and canine-oriented shop. So stop in and order a Caramel Sunday Latté or an Italian cream soda—just don’t forget to say hello to Lady and Buddy, the loveable pups who live there!
Nite Owl
Nite Owl is one of the most unique cocktail bars in Omaha, offering a festive and friendly atmosphere, elevated food and drink (including numerous vegetarian and vegan options), and quirky decor that is unlike anything else in town! Their funky decor continues outside, with a cozy, covered patio where your dog is welcome, and encouraged, to join you.
Dog Parks
Chalco Hills Recreation Area
Just 12 miles west of Omaha is the Chalco Hills Recreation Area. Near the main entrance of this park is a fenced, off-leash area where you can walk and exercise your pooch. This area even has a trail for you and your pup to explore, along with shady trees, benches and picnic tables.
Hanscom Dog Park
Hansom Dog Park in Northeast Omaha is one of the most popular off-leash parks in the city. The area encompasses 2.1 acres of parkland divided into three separate dog run areas. Plus, in between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the park features a water fountain area so your pup can stay hydrated while he plays!
Hefflinger Dog Park
Old Maple Road & North 112 Avenue
Hefflinger Dog Park was Omaha’s first official dog park and features over seven acres of off-leash space for your dog to roam. Five acres of the park is a designated “All Dog Area”, where dogs of any size can stretch their legs, while the other two acres are set aside for small dogs. This park tends to be muddy throughout the year, so we recommend bringing a few towels to wipe off with when you go.
Jewell Dog Park
This smaller grassy area is a lesser known dog park in Omaha, featuring a fenced in, off-leash area with separate areas for large and small dogs. Because this area doesn’t see as much traffic as the other parks, you may not come across another pup for Fido to hang out with. But don’t fret! There are several great trails where you and your best friend can get some exercise in behind the park.
