Pride month is observed in June, honoring the 1969 Stonewall riots. This celebration of inclusivity and the ongoing pursuit of equality is brought to Omaha this summer, with exciting events such as the annual Heartland Pride Festival in July and a variety of bar crawls, concert performances, community discussions and more throughout the month of June.
Omaha is home to multiple resources and initiatives that help to support local LGBTQ+ individuals in their quest for equal justice and raising awareness for the unique challenges faced by the community.

Here’s Where We Stand Concert


Where? 1200 Douglas Street
Holland Performing Arts Center is excited to host the Here’s Where We Stand performance by the River City Mixed Chorus. To kick off the month of June, which is a month of celebration for the LGBTQ+ community, the chorus features songs curated by members that are dedicated to love and the struggle for equity and justice for all. The musical set will also feature pieces that the chorus is taking on the road to Minneapolis, where they’ll perform during the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses. Make sure you come out to support the group while they’re in town! Ticket prices range from $20 to $45 and the event runs from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Saturday, June 8th.
Pride Mass & Cookie Reception



Where? 113 North 18th Street
Trinity Episcopal Cathedral is organizing its 3rd annual Pride Mass on July 10th, which falls on the Wednesday before the Heartland Pride festivities kick off. The service will include special prayers, music, and preaching that aims to affirm the inclusion of the LGBTQ+ community within the church. The Trinity Choir and River City Mixed Chorus will be performing songs and leading the congregation in hymns. Service will be held at 7:00 PM and there will be a festive cookie reception immediately after.
7th Annual Pride Bar Crawl
Where? 1019 South 10th Street
Attendees of the 7th Annual Pride Bar Crawl are encouraged to dress in their most vibrant attire and express themselves fully in this safe and welcoming space. More than just a pub crawl, this event has become a celebration of diversity and love and provides an opportunity to meet new friends and experience the diversity of the Omaha LGBTQ+ community. Ticket prices include 2-3 drinks or shots, free cover to the drag show, a US stadium party cup for the first 400 check-ins, exclusive drink specials, and professional photographers. All venues will have waived covers and there’s even an afterparty to keep the good vibes going!
Star City Pride Festival
Where? 605 North 8th Street, Lincoln
Star City Pride Events is excited to announce its Star City Pride Festival in Lincoln. This nonprofit has remained dedicated to producing inclusive spaces for the LGBTQIA2S+ community. The 2024 Pride event will be held on June 7th and 8th and ticket prices cost $10 for Friday and $15 for Saturday. Grab general access for the entire weekend for $20. As always, kids 10 and under get in free! Previous years have seen an attendance of nearly 4,000, so come celebrate the beauty of pride month with your friends, family, and neighbors while you shop local vendors and enjoy live entertainment.
Union Omaha Vs. Spokane Velocity: Pride Night

Union Omaha remains committed to inclusivity that extends far beyond just the month of June. The organization is dedicated to supporting initiatives year-round that help to positively impact the LGBTQIA+ community in Omaha. Union Omaha is one of 8 North American clubs that participate in the Common Goal Play Proud project and the team contributes signed merchandise for auctions that benefit the You Can Play project. On Thursday, June 13th — join the team as they take on Spokane Velocity FC at 7:00 PM at Werner Park for Pride Night, followed by a Special Olympics series match.
Proud Horizons Support Group
Where? 3337 North 107th Street
The Omaha ForUs LGBTQ+ Center hosts a family support group every other Saturday of the month between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. This provides families the opportunity to build community with each other and gain skills for parenting and supporting their LGBTQ+ loved ones. This event runs simultaneously with the youth support group designed for ages 13 to 23 that meets every other Saturday. Children and young adults will have the opportunity to discuss coming out to family, classmates, and coworkers and form relationships with peers with similar life experiences. The group runs three times during Pride Month: June 1st, June 15th, and June 29th.
Queer Table Talk: Pride is Still a Protest
Where? 6400 University Drive South
This community conversation is scheduled for June 26th, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Omahans are invited to join the discussion virtually or in person at the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center in Omaha. The event will begin with a welcome address before jumping into a panel discussion. There will be opportunities for breakout rooms and small group discussions before circling back to the full group. ASL and Spanish interpretation will be provided and the Zoom link for those attending virtually will be emailed before the event. Tickets are free.
Omaha Storm Chasers Vs. Louisville Bats: Pride Night
Where? 12356 Ballpark Way
On June 21st, 2024, the Omaha Storm Chasers are hosting their annual Pride Night. Held at Werner Park in nearby Papillion, this annual event is presented by PayPal. During previous pride night celebrations, the concourse is filled with tables from Heartland Pride, River City Gender Alliance, OUTNebraska, and other supportive organizations. The game begins at 7:05 PM and there will be Friday fireworks afterwards so stick around for the show!
Lincoln Official Pride Bar Crawl

Join members of the LGBTQ+ community in Lincoln’s most exciting bar crawl of the year. Hosted on June 22nd, 2024 — this vibrant event will celebrate love and unity as attendees embark on a journey around the city. Dress up in your favorite rainbow hues and enjoy the lively gathering of supportive, welcoming, and enthusiastic community members. There will be specialty-themed pride cocktails, as well as live entertainment. Bar crawl tickets include free entry into Lincoln’s best bars, 2-3 drinks or shots, select food specials, and access to a free after-party.
Youth Pride
Where? 455 North 10th Street
This year’s Youth Pride will be held on Friday, July 12th. Kicking off the Heartland Pride events on Saturday, younger members of the LGBTQ+ community can enjoy hanging out with their peers and enjoying pizza and beverages at the event. There will be a snack bar available as well. Admission is free and the party runs from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the CHI Health Center. The evening’s schedule includes a DJ set, drag performances, and a scholarship award presentation.
Heartland Pride Parade 2024
Where? 1140 Capitol Avenue
Omaha’s biggest pride parade is coming to town on July 13th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The parade sets off from Capital Avenue and finishes at the CHI Health Center. The event expects over 35,000 attendees from all walks of life, as well as 190+ marching groups and floats as well as NP Dodge that showcase the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community in Omaha. After the parade, the party keeps going at the CHI Health Center. There will be live entertainment, food & drinks, fun activities, and a supportive atmosphere of equality and inclusion for all. The event is completely free, so bring friends and family out to celebrate this annual event put together by Heartland Pride.
Heartland Pride Festival

Where? 455 North 10th Street
Heartland Pride Festival is the biggest LGBTQ+ event in Omaha, so mark your calendars now for this incredible event. Held on July 13th from 12:30 PM to 10:00 PM — keep the good times rolling after the Pride Parade and shop from over 150 vendors and local groups, selling everything from Pride merchandise to tasty food and artisan goods. There will be karaoke, an exclusive 19+ section, and local and national entertainment. The deadline for registration for vendors is June 14th — so make sure you submit your application if you’re interested in showcasing your organization to the local community at the festival.
LGBTQ+ Resources and Organizations in Omaha
Omaha is home to various organizations and nonprofits that are dedicated to building more inclusive spaces and providing support to members of the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Whether it’s through social events, support groups, or even volunteer opportunities — these resources are integral to creating a safer, more supportive Omaha.
River City Gender Alliance
The River City Gender Alliance was founded in 1986 and is proud to be Omaha’s only all-volunteer charitable organization that provides support to transgender and gender non-conforming individuals and their families. The organization hosts monthly meetings, social outings, and community involvement and seeks to further transgender acceptance through education, research, community outreach, and social and legal advocacy.
Omaha ForUs



The mission of Omaha ForUs is to build an intentional community and to create equitable space that’s in service of LGBTQ+ individuals and their families. The organization hosts support groups for ages 19+ community members, as well as families of LGBTQ+ individuals, youth groups, and a suicide loss survivor meeting. Omaha ForUs is also working on offering individual and family counseling services that will provide high-quality mental health support. Those looking for volunteer opportunities can attend an orientation, complete a background check, and be at least 18 years of age. There are also youth opportunities, which will be designated as such in the title.
Heartland Pride
Started in 2010, Heartland Pride has become a staple in the Omaha region. The organization is committed to creating inclusive environments while inspiring equality and celebrating diversity. Heartland Pride organizes a series of community-based pride events throughout the year, as well as fundraising events. Members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies are invited to volunteer at events such as festivals, parades, and youth pride events. Anyone seeking to contribute their time, money, and talents is welcomed with open arms.
OUTNebraska
For over a decade, OUTNebraska has remained dedicated to embracing, supporting, and celebrating the full spectrum of LGBTQIA2S+ Nebraskans who are faced with discrimination, disparities, and isolation. Through advocating for reform, growing connections, and providing inclusivity training and community engagement, this organization builds a more inclusive and collaborative Nebraska. The organization is based in Lincoln and hosts support groups, peer groups, and community-building events that feature games, snacks, and lots of laughs!
PFLAG
Established in 1973 through the collaboration of a mother and her gay son, PFLAG emerged as a beacon of love and unity within families. For five decades, this remarkable partnership between LGBTQ+ individuals and their cherished allies has been the driving force behind PFLAG’s enduring mission. Today, PFLAG’s extensive network encompasses hundreds of chapters and over 325,000 members and supporters. Together, they are actively shaping a world that embraces equity and inclusivity, where every LGBTQ+ individual can thrive in safety, celebration, empowerment, and love.
