The Best Places to Brunch in Omaha

February 23, 2016Add a CommentPosted By

Brunch is a wonderful concept. It’s the perfect meal for the late weekend risers, the indecisive, those with large appetites, and food-lovers. You get all the syrupy benefits of breakfast along with the savory notes of lunch, all in one place… plus you get to sleep in a little bit. Brunch encourages slow living, flavor savoring and Bloody Mary drinking.

Omaha is constantly expanding its wonderful brunch options, and we’re excited to bring you on a local tour through some of our favorite spots. Some places offer specific brunch menus available every day, and others offer a specific brunch special one or two days a week. But what you can guarantee at each location is quality offerings and pleasant surroundings.

So send this list to your favorite brunch buddy and explore a new place this weekend. Just imagine — you could slowly wake up this Saturday, venture to one of these restaurants and be sipping on mimosas and nibbling on Eggs Benedict by noon. You can get a headstart on the lunch crowd and miss the rush hour full of early rising breakfast eaters.

Whatever you do, Omahans, get to brunching! And let us know what you discover.

First Watch

Location: 1222 South 71st Street, Omaha, NE 68106

Hours of Operation: 7 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Every Day

First Watch first opened in California in 1983 with a mission to provide a restaurant specializing in breakfast, brunch and lunch while not wasting resources and energy on meals later in the day. That way, they could perfect their breakfast and lunch offerings, providing quality over quantity.

For our purposes, we’re particularly interested in First Watch’s breakfast/brunch menu, teeming with delectable egg-centric offerings and griddle goodness. And the best part of it all? First Watch provides an entire pitcher of coffee for the table as soon as you walk in the door.

Their brunch menu is simple, but covers all the brunch basics, and covers them well. Whatever you order, you can know wholeheartedly that the dish’s ingredients will be locally and sustainably sourced whenever possible.

In their words, Over Easy “believes community is a verb. [They] feel a business is only as good as the community it helps support. [They] feel local is an identity. With hours spanning from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., it’s clear that breakfast and brunch are the focus at Over Easy. But they also intend to include only the freshest, local ingredients on your plate. You can choose between their breakfast and lunch menus available during the entirety of their operating hours, or meet somewhere in the middle for a spectacular brunch experience.
