Holiday Happenings in Omaha

Are you looking for something to do in the Omaha area during the Holiday Season? From walking the cobblestones downtown and enjoying the lights at Gene Leahy Mall, to wondering the zoo – where the animals are surrounded by holiday decorations and fun activities, or finding your way to the Durham Museum to visit the region’s largest Christmas Tree at Union Station, the area has many opportunities for you to enjoy! See below for just a few local area Holiday Events.

ConAgra Foods Ice Rink: For an admission fee of just $5 (includes skates), you can enjoy ice skating on this temporary ice rink constructed on ConAgra’s campus. One Hundred Percent of the rink’s proceeds are donated to the the Food Bank for the Heartland as part of the “Shine the Light on Hunger” campaign.

Miracle at Midtown: From now until January 1, 2015, Midtown Crossing presents Miracle at Midtown. This is a season- long celebration of the holidays. Come out and experience the lights of the town, while listening to the chorus of carolers. Once, nightly, starting at 7pm is a spectacular light show choreographed to seasonal music, best visible from Turner Park!

Christmas at Union Station: Celebrating Christmas at Union Station dates all the way back to the 1930s! Today, this cherished event continues with the region’s largest indoor Christmas tree and an exceptional lineup of family friendly events. While you are there, be sure to visit the Soda Fountain and enjoy a special sweet treat!

Village Pointe Santa Events: Head out west to Village Pointe Shopping Center for one of many holiday events! From story time with Santa to complimentary carriage rides, there is sure to be something for the whole family!

Shadow Lake Towne Center Santa Events: Are you further South? Go on over to Shadow Lake Towne Center for similar Santa Events…Lunch with Santa, story time, or a complimentary carriage ride there as well!

General Dodge House: Are you in Council Bluffs? Head over to the General Dodge House for family nights and to see the home decorated beautifully for the holiday season!

New Year’s Eve Fireworks Spectacular: Celebrate New Year’s Eve with a fireworks show! The closing event of the Holiday Lights Festival, it is one of the largest New Year’s Eve fireworks displays in the region. Enjoy the  show before heading out for the evening. This event is known to draw over 300,000 people – so arrive early!
