5 Out-of-the-Box Omaha Vacation Rentals from Airbnb

Looking to surprise your significant other with a staycation? Seeking a unique alternative to a hotel stay for out-of-town guests? Dreaming of a spontaneous getaway or place to stay in the heart of Omaha for a special occasion or anniversary? Airbnb is the answer to all of your problems! Well, maybe not all of them. But we can at least start with tackling your temporary housing problems.

For those of you who haven’t heard of Airbnb, it’s an online tool that people all across the world use to rent an entire home or a spare bedroom from local hosts who have listed their properties on the site. Airbnb has over 1,500,000 listings in 34,000 cities and 190 countries, so you are sure to find a place that captures your attention or fits within your budget in whatever city you happen to be visiting.

We have compiled a list of our favorite Omaha Airbnb listings, from a tiny house to a sprawling 6,000+ square foot home. These spaces vary in size, price and location, so this list will be the perfect kickstart to your getaway search — no matter your lifestyle!

Modern Tiny House: $70

Let’s start with something simple. And we’re talking really simple. This modern tiny house fulfills the wildest dreams of those attracted to minimalism and simple living. If you haven’t heard of the tiny house movement yet, you may need to get out more — or get inside this incredible piece of architecture for a weekend getaway.

This house makes use of every square inch of space, creating a cozy and highly functional atmosphere. But its owner, Jamison, did not skimp on aesthetics; the place is well-decorated with just enough tasteful accent pieces to make it feel like your temporary home. While the overall color scheme remains neutral and calm, our favorite parts are the pops of lime green and yellow found on the front door and bathroom mirror frame.

Although it lacks square footage, the tiny house accommodates three guests and includes two beds — one a queen sized loft bed accessible by stairs and the other a fold-out sofa bed. The kitchenette area includes a small fridge and freezer, a small sink and a coffee maker with coffee. You might feel like you’re away from society, but you can still feel connected to the outside world through the free wireless Internet available at this property.

This space-conscious residence would make the perfect destination if you’re trying to save some money and are seeking a unique and fun Omaha experience!

Downtown Mid-Century Loft: $85

For those of you in pursuit of an affordable sleeping arrangement that is centrally located, this downtown Old Market loft is perfect for you.

During your stay downtown, overlook Harney Street in the exciting Old Market area through large, bright windows. If that whole low-ceiling tiny house idea isn’t your thing, take comfort in knowing this loft has high ceilings and a little more space. The large sectional couch is the perfect place to relax after a day spent exploring the city.

The loft accommodates two people, but if you’re traveling solo, don’t worry! You’ll probably make a new friend or two during your stay, whether it’s your host or those you encounter in the charming Old Market neighborhood.

The host, Courtney, has an eclectic style that she describes as “Mad Men Meets (a Clean!) Hippie.” We love her unique and cheery decorative touch; she has included several quirky pieces in this space, which accurately reflect her classic rock and mid-century style.

Courtney is a huge fan of the city, and mentions that she can’t even walk her dog half a block in her neighborhood without a conversation or a friendly “hello.” Courtney herself seems to be friendly and inviting, making sure her guests leave her loft with her same appreciation for Omaha.

Americana Bungalow: $120

We are in love with the meticulously crafted vintage decor of this Americana bungalow located in historic Benson.

Homeowners Joshua and Kristen have displayed their creative personalities beautifully in their 101-year-old home. Joshua is a musician and Kristen is an artist, filling their home with music and color. The couple jokes that their place is a mix of grandma’s house, a hookah lounge, a house plant nursery and a natural history museum.

Guests can retreat to their cozy private room but interact with the couple as much as is preferred or needed. Previous guests have mentioned that Joshua and Kristen are warm and inviting, and are happy to point people in the direction of all their favorite things about Omaha.

We particularly love their bright living room area with lots of plant life and elegant antique pieces. White walls are the perfect backdrop for this colorful and pattern-filled room.

Make yourself at home in this charming bungalow and explore the amazing local restaurants and shops that Benson has to offer.

Loft Condo in Old Market: $500

This lovely loft conveniently located in Old Market hosts three to four people. Splitting the cost with a group of friends will help you bring the price down a bit while still enjoying the modern luxuries that this space has to offer.

The extremely open floor plan and high, 17-foot ceilings help to increase the space and provide a wonderful common area for guests to watch movies, share a meal or simply relax.

When it’s time to sleep, there is a unique sleeping nook hovering above that space, with a stunning view of the large window in the living room that peers into the iconic Old Market area down below.

We are fascinated with the various bright and eclectic pieces placed around the condo — from the white metal kitchen counter stools to the rainbow glass ball mobile of sorts hanging in the loft area. This place is well kept and well decorated. But if you’re not much of a homebody, this property is centrally located so you will have plenty to do in the Old Market area right outside your doorstep.

Contemporary Woodsy Destination: $850

If you’re looking to splurge a little during your stay or have a large number of people willing to help split the cost, we’ve found the perfect place for you! This enormous, 6,000+ square foot contemporary home has some of the most unique architectural details we have seen — probably because the homeowner works for an architecture firm.

If you’re wanting to be a little removed from the busyness of the downtown Omaha area, this tranquil getaway is exactly what you need to feel relaxed while you rest after your day’s activities. Guests have full access to a 4-story Master Suite “tower” with two distinct bedroom levels that sleep a total of three to six people. You can take in breathtaking views of the rural North Omaha area on two separate decks — the perfect places to enjoy the sunrise while drinking your morning coffee or unwind with a glass of wine in the evening. Some of the more notable and unexpected features of this home include an attached exercise and fitness center, a ping-pong table, and an indoor tire swing.

The design of this home is mind-blowing and undeniably unique. Large floor-to-ceiling windows provide lots of natural light and make you feel like you’re completely immersed in your forest surroundings. At this property, the only neighbors nearby are deer and wild turkeys, providing a serene and uninterrupted stay in rural North Omaha.
