If you’re like me, you’re always looking for ways to simplify and declutter your home — particularly your closet. The best aspect about parting with a neglected sweater or a pair of jeans is knowing that their relocation may help clothe someone in need. We are glad to provide an outlet for this philanthropic transfer to happen.
We are hosting our annual clothing drive during the entire month of October. We are particularly in need of warm clothing, coats, jackets, jeans, bedding and children’s clothing, but any and all clothing items are welcome!
Your clothing donations may be dropped off at any NP Dodge sales office. From there, the Siena/Francis House will distribute all donations to guests at their shelter.
The Siena/Francis House is Nebraska’s largest shelter, providing food, emergency shelter and clothing, along with outreach/case management to homeless families and individuals from Omaha and surrounding communities. The shelter has an “open door” policy, meaning that they try to never turn away any person or family who comes to their doorstep in need, regardless of the circumstances that led them to seek their help.
In an average year, the Siena/Francis House will provide over 20 tons of clothing to people who are homeless. However, during an abnormally harsh winter, this number will increase significantly, which of course causes a greater need for clothing donations.
Your clothing donations are a small yet important way to help contribute to the mission of the Siena/Francis house — a mission that we are passionate about and happy to support.
Please consider joining us in this effort. If you are planning on dropping off a truckload of clothes or just a single jacket, know that a donation of any size is helpful. If you are unable to donate clothing at this time, but still want to help out in some way, monetary donations can be made online. For special donations or questions, call Suzi Modlin at (402) 208-5088.
