Not only is there so much to do in downtown Omaha, there are several surrounding communities with distinctive personalities and activities of their own. Bellevue is one of our favorite said communities, offering a large variety of things to do and a unique combination of the historic and brand-new that appeals to every age group and walk of life.
Take a look at some of our favorite Bellevue must-dos, and let us know what yours are!
1. Visit the Farmers’ Market on Saturdays

Throughout the summer (plus one weekend into the fall), visit the Bellevue Farmers’ Market every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Visiting a local farmers’ market is one of the best opportunities to get in sync with the heartbeat of a community. This volunteer-run market takes place at Washington Park, rain or shine, where you can shop from their variety of vendors selling fresh produce, baked goods, bread, crafts, furniture, jewelry and more!
2. See a Movie
Whether the sun is blazing or the rain is falling, it’s always nice to escape the outdoor elements every once in awhile. The Marcus Twin Creek Cinema in Bellevue is a luxurious movie theater with full-service, in-theater dining, large recliner chairs and assigned seating to ensure a great view of their massive screen in any of the 16 auditoriums.
Simply choose which type of theater experience you’d like, check out the corresponding showtimes, and buy your tickets! Keep in mind that their matinee prices make this movie-going experience particularly affordable.
3. See an Incredible Air Show

The Offutt Air Force Base is a source of pride for Bellevue, as it borders the city on the south end and is a well-known base throughout the country. The base is the host station for the 55th Wing, the largest wing of the United States Air Force’s Air Combat Command, and is home to several significant associate units.
Let your American pride continue beyond the Fourth of July by witnessing the jaw-dropping Offutt Air Force Base Show on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31. Admission to the open house and air show is completely free, but you may purchase VIP Flight Deck seating in advance!
4. Learn About This Region’s History
Learn more about the history of Sarpy County at Sarpy County Museum, a museum hosting a collection of artifacts and historical resources unveiling the history of Bellevue, Gretna, La Vista, Papillion and Springfield. Since the museum’s inception in the late 1960s and early 1970s, their collections have grown significantly, now including items such as the ‘60s-era “Sarpy Caboose.” Admission to the Sarpy County Museum is free, with a suggested donation of $2.
5. Grab a Bite to Eat + a Drink

One of the best ways to truly experience a city is with a visit to a local restaurant or bar. You’ll be able to speak face-to-face with residents of the town and taste their favorite dishes. And perhaps more importantly, it just tastes so good.
Swine Dining BBQ serves their award-winning BBQ ribs, brisket and pork, and is perhaps the best source of mouth-watering comfort food in town. Check out their simple but flavor-filled menu to see what’s in store during your visit.
DJ’s Dugout Sports Bar is the perfect place to sit back, relax and enjoy the game — any game, really. With several locations throughout Nebraska, this is a well-loved and popular atmosphere to enjoy all sorts of hearty food while the game plays on their many TV screens situated throughout the bar.
Nettie’s Fine Mexican Food is a great place to grab Mexican food and drinks in town. This family-owned restaurant is dedicated to serving delicious, authentic cuisine to the people of Bellevue.
As you know, Nebraska knows its beef. These next two are proof of the state’s knack for crafting an incredible burger…
Stella’s Bar and Grill has been named Omaha’s Best Burger seven years in a row, and was recently named Nebraska’s Best Burger by the Nebraska Beef Council! They’ve been concocting their world-famous burgers the same way since 1936, so you’re always guaranteed a satisfying burger during your visit to Stella’s.
Sinful Burger Sports Grill is another award-winning burger joint in Bellevue, having won the category for Gourmet Hamburgers in Best of Omaha 2016. Try one of their 7 Deadly Sins Burgers, such as the Gluttony Burger or The Sinful Burger!
6. Experience Nature + Entertainment at Sokol Park
Bellevue’s Sokol Park offers one of the most unique and interactive outdoor experiences in the area. Quite recently, the park was purchased by a local resident named Brandon Miller and his family. They have big dreams to convert the park into a retro entertainment space of sorts, expanding to include drive-in movies, “glamping” accommodations, concerts, impressive picnic areas, and more — many of which are already set in place!
Keep an eye on Sokol Park’s action-packed events calendar so you don’t miss a thing this summer and beyond!
7. Play a Round of Golf

Tregaron Golf Course is a massive golf course in Bellevue, attracting golfers from all over the region — and the state! This 7,200-yard course offers something for every golf enthusiast, featuring many scenic attractions like natural wetlands, winding creeks and four beautiful lakes. Experience this incredible course first-hand and unwind after an active day on the green at Tregaron’s amazing bar and grill.
